Question about RCI/II dual affiliated resort - RCI points
I don't know the answer, but I can share what I learned from GPX when I had a points converted week. If I booked my home week (which needs to be done 12-13 months out) via RCI points, I could then deposit that week into GPX. If I missed the 12 month mark, it had to stay in RCI points.

Thanks, Presley. That begs another question... I have a floating week. Do I get an assigned "home week" if the week is converted? That may not serve me at all... tia

I think this depends on the resort. I have a floating week at a dual affiliated resort. I make a reservation there. As far as I know, once I've made the reservation, I get to keep that week. When I deposit it in RCI, it's the week I reserved. When I deposit it in II, it's the week I reserved.
However, I know that not all resorts do it this way. For that question, you probably need to ask your resort or another owner.
With the RCI points...I started to guess, and then I realized I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about! Again, it seems like a question you could ask your resort.
I remember reading from someone that they have a points resort and their home resort refused verify the deposit for II despite the fact that it was dual affiliated and reserved as a home week before being converted to points. Since the resort would not confirm the deposit II would not accept it. I think that person also reported problems depositing the week with an independent exchange company for the same reason. So I think it depends on the resort. Some resorts turn all the points owners over to RCI to manage the reservations both during the home reservation period and once it is auto converted to points at the 12 month mark.
Thanks for the feedback, all! ! Sounds like too much of a diceroll and l think I'll pass for now.... I am tempted periodically to get into the points game, but nothng is every clearcut with these exchange companies, least of all RCI... and surely whatever may be true now will change soon enough so I will resist the current deep discount on conversion from my happy II trader. Call me old fashioned, but I do like a simple deed that works for me.
