I'm torn between Tahiti Village and Grandview. Why did you pick Grandview?

Tahiti Village is way on the other side of the airport almost in a residential area.
The resort looked nice. We had dinner there before we caught the plane out on a red eye.
There is a Denny's on site.

I own at Grandview but have never stayed there.
Tahiti Village looked more of a family style resort than a hopping place.
It was very quiet there the night we visited.
That may be a good thing if you want to get away from all the strip noise.
You will need a car to stay here though as it's way off the main drag of the strip.

Grandview is down the same way, even further from the Strip. But that is part of its charm.

I was looking for someplace close to the strip. Both resorts say they have shuttles to the strip. Not going to rent a car. I would prefer being right on the strip but nothing available for the dates I need.

Holiday Inn at the Desert Club is walking distance to the Strip and it is available.

Are the dangling carrots to be exchanges mainly as most seem to be from RCI, II or SFX?

We use our timeshares and are very happy still able to go every year but have one Marriott DC exchange booked this week to the MOC for week 13. I finally caved in so will have to skip the year after but have enough points left for a trip to Kauai or somewhere else.

Have you decided when to go to Hawaii and to what island or more than one? I called Chris to bring it to her attention as she mentioned 2015. It would be nice to meet again.

By the way, the first whale was spotted yesterday early in October and they are there until about May but February and March are the best months for whale watching and you can have the windows open day and night so hear the waves. I am thrilled for you and your travel buddies.

Adding my comparatively limited dangling carrots:

Oct - Shenandoah Crossings, Gordonsville, Va - planned to do Skyline Drive, but with the gov't. shut-down, we may have to revise our plans
Oct - Suites at Hershey, PA (Bluegreen also) - Going to see Noah at Sight and Sound for dh's 50th bday
waiting for my SSR DVC membership # to make Jan. reservations at Disney, hoping to get at least a split stay at BLT (if not a full stay)

Have you decided on one island or more? Try to go when it isn't so hot and humid. October and November are very nice months or even May. These months are easy to get exchanges for but the weather is quite nice too. We like the whale season but it falls during Easter week and spring break too so a very busy time.

Our carrots are what we own but we made some very nice exchanges a year or so ago. They were all expiring so had to get on the ball but had an II guide help me. She did a fabulous job for us. I am still a member of RCI too but haven't used their "Last call" in years now so will let it expire next year.

Looking forward to the trips is half the fun so planning early, like you do, is not a bad idea.

PS. Our first dangling carrot is two weeks to Laguna Surf for Peter's birthday. It is our favorite beach city and will always be besides Maui and Catalina Island.
