I've not yet done any exchanging with SFX.
I already have 3 units booked with my Worldmark account but just don't have enough credits or Housekeeping tokens to book a 4th unit.
It's for a family get-together with DH's family - his parents, 3 siblings and their families. If worse comes to worse, I guess one of the families will just need to rent private accommodation nearby. But I just wanted to try to do what I can to get it all happening as DH's mum has wanted a combined family holiday for years, and it'll also be my SIL's 40th b'day that week. So it'll be an extra special vacation if it all works out. Phew!Syd

It has to be that exact week because I need that resort and week for a family get-together. So I'm asking if there's anyone who can bank that Worldmark exact week with SFX so that SFX will use that unit to fulfill my request with SFX. I already have a spacebank with SFX.
Does that make sense? It is a bit confusing.Syd

If you use your deposit to exchange, you have nothing to give that person ...you will be using your space bank deposited week to do the exchange.
And if easyrider deposits the unit into SFX for you to use your deposit to exchange into, he is stuck with a deposit in SFX he may not want.
There is also the VERY real situation that easyrider deposits into SFX and you do NOT get the exchange .... A direct swap (such as what you and I did) would be preferable to avoid you losing the week you want.
And it should be done via pm.

Forgive me but it seems a much simpler solution would be to rent the WM points from an owner and then book the resort/dates that you want as it sounds like you have a WM account. If there are complications of transfering points between US and Aussie accounts, have a US WM owner book it for you and pay them. As for your not wanting your SFX deposit to expire, they usually run early deposit promotions (like they have right now) where they extend the life of existing deposits for another year. I have a deposit from 2011 that is still good because I've had "free" extensions over the years. So your Nov 2014 deposit wouldn't expire until 2015.
Unless you don't want to deposit another week with SFX. Then that's another story and would make it difficult for you to convince someone else to deposit the week you're looking for with them when you don't.
That might not be the absolute least economical way but it would be close to it - definitely the least complicated, get you need and not lose anything.

I don't want to deposit another week with SFX at the moment because I don't have enough Worldmark credits as it is. I used most of my credits to book 3 units there. My other timeshares are fine for my use in Australia and we're not going back to the US for a few years. I had originally deposited the week with SFX to make an exchange in the US for Dec 2012/Jan2013. So it's not SFX's fault that it's still sitting there. SFX was VERY helpful in trying to get me a week I needed in the US. It's just that when airfares were released, it was too expensive for our family to add in the US onto Europe, so our plans changed. Hence the SFX deposit remains to be used.
I tried renting points and yes, there was an issue of not being able to transfer credits to my Worldmark account from a US account. Bocabum had actually kindly offered to book it for me and I would have gone ahead with it but by that stage I thought I had a deal with a US reseller, who had contact with an AU reseller, who said they could transfer the actual credits into my account, but that had just literally fell through. They were going to do an exchange between the two of them and suggested I pay the US reseller as it was cheaper. I had a few cheap offers of $650 to book the week for me on the Worldmark forums but I don't know these people and another member on that site messaged me warning me to be careful as others had been scammed before. So for me to pay another Worldmark owner to book the week for me, I would have to feel fairly comfortable that I can trust them not to take my money and run. (BTW, I trust Boca implicitly but didn't want to bother him again after saying no.)
Anyway, I then remembered that I have the SFX spacebank (which expires Nov2014) and how I had deposited 10,000cr with them, so emailed them to see whether it was possible to exchange back into Worldmark AU. They replied that they are working on it dependant upon another Worldmark owner to deposit the week I need. This indicated to me that my request with SFX is a viable option. So then I went on this board to hurry it along a bit.
Finally, I get more credits on my Worldmark account in Dec so I can book the week myself. Hoping the unit is still available by then.Syd

Ha! In the midst of all this, I'm also trying to organise a points-for-deposit with one of my other Aussie resorts into Worldmark, as am thinking it might be quicker than waiting until Dec or SFX, so more chance of booking the week. I can always cancel my Worldmark booking if SFX comes through.
My family have no idea about timeshares so will have no idea the crazy steps I go to. Anyway, they are paying for the cost of my levy for the week. So it's not free for them. I don't expect they'll understand nor appreciate what a deal it is they're getting but that's OK. Most people unfamiliar with timeshares wouldn't have a clue, and probably think we're a bit crazy to boot!Syd
