    True, for those resorts.

It would be interesting to know if OL has assigned units from the git-go, even though specific deeded units were deposited to RCI. If they has always assigned units themselves, it could be because that is what the founder was familiar with--running hotels.

Which could also explain why Fairfield assigns units, since there are so many Fairfield Inns.

One of the resorts I frequently stay at in Maine just gives you wahatever unit was deposited. When we stayed there one time for two weeks in peak season, they shifted things so we could have 2 weeks in the same unit. If a resort with 32 units can do this then any resort can and this would be an acceptable reason for giving out a unit other than was deposited. On the other hand, I also have tried to downgrade at this resort by request from a 2br to a 1 br, without any luck (the units are the same size, but the 1 br has a whirlpool room in lieu of a second bedroom).

When before I said in our experience, this is what I meant, that I could give examples of small, intimidate, hospitable and accomodating resorts where we have gotten specific units from the exchange company(ies), and then the resorts juggled them so we did not have to move or we were near friends.

One resort went so far as to give an additional unit at owner's rate ($39) so that two couples that were with us could each have their own unit.

There is hospitality out there and everything is not done cookie-cutter fashion like at the vacation mills.

And, like Tony says, some won't do any juggling.

          Update

Regarding the thingie that Jenny got chastised for not filling out at check-in, someone came by the unit to get it filled out.

When they found out that the man of the house was not along this trip, they said Jenny was not qualified. They took their gift and left.

The General Manager nor anyone else has called me back.

A guy called their unit early in the morning and woke everyone up.

He was chastising her again because she had not completed the survey. Jenny explained that a gal had come to the unit, told her she couldn't do it because her man was not with her, took the gift and left.

The guy grumbled a bit, then apologized, at which point Jenny told him it was too late cuz he already woke everyone up.

No one ever followed up with Jenny or me, to see how her mother was.

They never got moved to a more convenient unit.

They went to the fake Elvis show and liked it.

Extreme Home Makeover had a benefit show at the GOO, with TY Pennington and Alan Jackson. We all knew about it, but it was not public information so I didn't say anything. Jenny and here family were there and it will be shown on the TV program before too long.

The benefit was for a family that lost their house to a tornado. The mother threw herself over her young son to protect him and she is now paralyzed.
