  • need Orlando exchange

I am about to extend my RCI deposit to search for a week with March 10 or 11 check in in Orlando or Lake Buena Vista, I don't want Kissimmee because of distance I would have to travel. We want to attend Bayhill golf tournament. When we stayed at Vistana Resort we were 15 to 20 minutes drive from it. When I search with a different week, I don't see much. We would take a one bedroom but not a lockout (or the small side). RCI has suggested in the past that I ask the PGA to schedule this tournament at a different time, but ARnold Palmer, Tiger Woods et al said it would not fit their schedule. I am trying to trade a two bedroom, red week, gold crown, but not getting much.
Can someone search for me to see what turns up. I would prefer a resort with some rating, like gold or silver crown.

I'd guess that Vistana is probably the best of the bunch, although The Gardens looks new and interesting. Both are GCs the rest unrated ( although I've had great stays at unrated resorts and been mighty disappointed with some GCs )

Not bad as it costs less than what I would pay for an exchange. I'd see if you can ask John Chase or someone else in the know un the Grandevillas though. I think I might remember that that is a lock-off from the 3 bdrm and is very studio-esque.

I am glad to see that noone is getting an extreme amount more than me. I saw Fairfield but only the one bedroom lockout.

the Gardens is listed as a gay/lesbian alternative lifestyle resort. It kind of warned people off, it is connected to an alternative lifestyle hotel.

I am blocked on Vistana Resort because of the one in four rule.

Kingstown Reef seemed to have bad reviews on the Tug board, does anyone know anything about it?

That Cypress Point might be more intersting to me if it checked in on a Sunday. The tournament we want tos ee goes from Monday to Sunday, with a Friday check out we miss all the big days, with a Sat. check out we miss the last one or two days,

I am trying to work that map of timeshares in Orlando, and in my usual clutzy manner am having no success.

            well I did say "interesting" didn't I?

Built from the ground up by the Parliament House, the most famous gay entertainment complex in the world and celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary with this fantastic, luxurious, 10-acre, lakefront, gated resort, right next door to the Parliament House The Gardens is only blocks from downtown Orlando and 15 minutes to all the local attractions. The Gardens, with 1 and 2 bedroom South Beach style condos in a lush relaxed environment!

The 1-bedroom unit has 909 sq. feet, 2 full baths with the master bath having a whirlpool tub and granite countertop vanities.

The 2-bedroom unit has 1405 sq. feet, 2.5 baths with the master bedroom having a 2-man color changing whirlpool tub, a giant glass block enclosed 5-man ultra shower, with multi showerheads and his and his granite vanities. The 2nd bedroom has 2 queen beds and a private bath.

Each unit is luxuriously equipped with contemporary furniture, erotic art work, warm textured fabrics, Queen or King beds, private phones, high speed internet and wireless high speed internet throughout the entire property, whirlpool tub, big screen 46” TV in living room and 27” TV in each bedroom, all with DVD players, VCR’s and digital cable with HBO. Each condo has a luxurious living room and pull out queen sleeper sofa with posturepedic mattress. Fully equipped and furnished kitchen with eat in bar and granite countertops, full sized refrigerator with icemaker, microwave, blender, coffee maker, and dishwasher.

Plus both the 1 and 2 bedroom units have private balconies, an elegant dining room, laundry facilities, complimentary housecleaning service, room service, and 24 hour security. All this plus a Deed and RCI points – Travel by Day/Week or move with total flexibility.

OK maybe I'd pass on the erotic artwork but if a 2 BDRM came up I'd go just for the color changing tub and the 5 man shower!.

Call me cosmopolitan then; as long as no one hits on me in the lounge or the elevator these things do not bother me. If they did I never could have gotten my hair cut, worked in NY's Greenwich Village or ever visited SFO, or South Beach Miami and forget visiting Dad in Laguna.

You may have to make the best of it and pack your tutu.

I did see a lot of Kissimee but you don't want that.

I pretty much saw the same things...but the Gardens, while alternative lifestyle, really looked kind of neat! If you are bringing kids, though, I would guess you might want to avoid it. I will try to check from time to time to see what else pops up! Mar is spring break so it may be a challenge, but I bet you will get something...hang in!

                  ..........

I'm guessing they are similar to the gay bath houses that once were in existence in the city.

I don't have an RCI account, so I can't look at the hotel....I could certainly be wrong in my guess.

I thought so too, but they are described only as 'alternative lifestyle.' Here is the website

                    http://www.thegardensorlando.com/

They are offering free 2 night stays for the timeshare promo, no spouse requirement AND they promise RESPECT and NO PRESSURE. Gee, those other companies could learn a thing or two here. I think the accommodations are at Parliament House next door:

                    http://www.parliamenthouse.com/orlando/default.asp

edited to add: I think RCI should leave people to decide on their own whether they want to bring their children, rather than issue a homophobic warning. When you book a place in Las Vegas, there's no warning against bringing your kids despite the fact that they are handed flyers for strip joints and escorts outside the door, etc... It's one thing to warn of the 'adult only' nature of the place next door since that's not expected in Orlando, but let people make up their own minds (and imo I don't think sexual preference of the guests next door should have anything to do with one's decision to bring their children, jmo). Ok I better stop before this gets moved to the Political Forum, and I'm not opted in there...

The place really does look beautiful, but that's not surprising. My guess is that there's lots of hanky-panky going on in those showers, and baths......not that there's anything wrong with that.......

Very interesting -- probably too much so for some people. The Gardens is a new resort that caters to a gay clientele. I know that there is at least one other predominantly gay/lesbian timeshares, but that one seems low-key (it's on Cape Cod and has a mostly lesbian clientele.) The Gardens, on the other hand, seems to imply that it will have a pretty wild atmosphere, with it's RCI entry saying "Not appropriate for children or families."

thanks for your posts, I called last night, said I was willing to spend the $99 to extend the exchange, but was unwilling to take a one bedroom lock out, or a lower rated resort. I got the full sized one bedroom at Fairfield Orlando at cypress Palms.
