  • Williamsburg and RCI--what do you think?

I have a 3br lockoff at King's Creek in Williamsburg. I have a nice summer week reserved for next year, starting July 8.

I'm a member of SFX, but I already have two weeks with them. I'm also a member of RCI. If I deposit my week with RCI, what kind of exchanges do you think I'll be able to get? I'm not very picky about the actual units (Shawnee level is okay with us, although nicer is nicer, of course). Also we need 2brs.

RCI drives me nuts and every time I talk to them on the phone I end up hanging up on them...but we mostly want to go to the East Coast. So. Deposit with RCI and see how it goes? Does anyone have a comparable-ish Williamsburg unit with them? What do you usually see on the East Coast?

I feel like I saw Williamsburg on the trade tests before, but now I can't find it! (Williamsburg, I mean--I found the trade tests.)

    Thanks for any help!

    Best,

    Wacky

Williamsburg in general is not a great trader and they keep building more resorts. As a result I think that Kings creek might not get the power it deserves with RCI and probably is just a mediocre trader as a result.

      Wacky,
The week you have will be about as strong as Wmbg ever gets. Summer TS are full in Wmbg, the rest of the year, they are not.

New TS are going in all the time, with hotel occupancies at lows, hotels are being bought and being converted to TS by Westgate and with BlueGreen being the latest one.

There is little 'value' in Wmbg as a trader in the weeks system, it's very similar to Orlando except there's really only one 'season' in Wmbg, summer when kids are out of school. Except for summer and school holidays, I'll rent you any week in Wmbg for next to nothing.

Right, I understand it's going to be a crappy trader. But remember, I have no idea what particular crap I'd be seeing in RCI. I'm trying to get a vague idea of what crap that might be before I commit to RCI.

Would I see anything in summer anywhere on the East Coast? Or nothing at all anywhere? Or would I only see week 50 in particularly dumpy places in Orlando?

Has anyone ever deposited a Williamsburg summer week in RCI? What do you see if you do?

While I own many summer Wmbg weeks they are all now in Club Sunterra, it's been a long while since I deposited one. I would not call them crappy but mediocre. You'll be able to see most anything that one would expect with a RED average trader, certainly Orlando all year in good places if deposited early and booked in advance. Maybe someone with more recent experience will chime in.

I'm another person who has largely abandoned RCI Weeks for RCI Points (although I've never owned in Williamsburg.) Based on when little use I make lately of RCI Weeks, I don't think you'd see anything on a beach in summer. You might see some interior summer weeks.
