for the week after Thanksgiving 2007, soon? Is this time of year tough to exchange into the 5* resorts through II? Would really like the Disney resorts but won't hold my breath for those. I own at Westgate in Las Vegas and would really like to get into another resort other than Westgate in Orlando.

If you know the date which it sounds like you do. Then why not start the search now. IMO it is always best to put in the search early and request the resorts that you want the most. This will put you in the front of the line.
Also once you have 15 posts you will be able to see the Exchange Opportunities board. There you can ask to see what is available for that time frame. They will also be on the look out for the Disney resorts that you want.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

With the exception of Disney, right now there is plenty of availability for the week after Thanksgiving...........2 & 3 bdrms available, in 5 * resorts.......Angela
If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I would like to get in at a Disney resort, that is my preference, but realize that it may be a bit difficult. My next choice would be for the Marriott Grande Vista. Do they put all exchangers in the old part of the resort, therefore, do you have to request to be put into the newer part? Once again, thank you for all your help!

If you want Disney, place that request first. If you don't get it within a comfortable timeframe, then add the Marriotts. There are Marriotts sitting there now, so if you include those with your Disney request they will get matched right away.

What, in your opinion, would be a "comfortable time frame" for this area, time of year and these types of resorts? I'm fairly new to all of this and have no idea what time of year in Orlando is "high" season. Allthough, it sounds like this time of year may be fairly slow. Am I right? Also, am I understanding you correctly when you say to "place the request first" you are meaning not to deposit my unit at the time of request or to just ask for the Disneys first and then later on the Marriotts? Thank you Avery for your help.

I don't think 'request first' will really make a difference here, unless you may not want to deposit your week if you don't get your Disney match. If that's the case, then go ahead and do a 'request first' for Disney. You can only do a 'request first' with II if your home resort check-in date is AFTER the dates you are requesting, btw.
I just realized you are looking at 2007, not 2006. Is that correct? If yes, it is too soon to see any Marriott availability, it is 2006 that is available for your dates. Go ahead and put in your Disney request. Someone else will have to let us know how far in advance Disney deposits get made, but Marriotts don't until 13 months ahead at the earliest. By putting in your off-season request very early for Disney, you increase your chances.

Once your RCI membership is finalized, you will be able to search RCI online yourself as well, and put in an ongoing request for the resorts/dates you are looking for. Stick around here, you will learn a lot about how to maximize your new timeshare purchase.
Welcome to TS4ms!

If your heart is set on Disney, the last I knew they assessed a bogus $ 95 charge for travel and transportation(or some other BS). Not sure if or what they charge now. Orlando is an easy trade except for the time when schools are out. My favorite time is the second half of October, where the weather is still warm enough for the pools and the crowds are minimal. Best check the UK school break too and that week the place is full of "redcoats" and the parks are a bit more crowded. There still is the chance of a hurricane that late in the year as we found out last year, but it really only wiped out a day which we used to get some free tickets on a timeshare tour.
