  • TonyG, will you please explain

in more detail, the fees for travel and transportation that Disney charges you? As per your reply in my previos post. Thank you.

I'm not tonyg, but I don't think he'll mind my butting in. If you exchange into a Disney resort through II, Disney collects a $95 "transportation fee" upon check-in. In my opinion it's just another way Disney came up with squeeze a few extra dollars out timeshare exchangers. Even if you never step foot onto a Disney bus, you still have to pay. They're really double charging you since your theme park admission is supposed to include transportation. If you want avoid the fee you can rent from a Disney Vacation Club owner, or buy into DVC.

    Did I miss anything Tony?

Actually, if they are still doing it, maybe Disney should explain. If you look in the II resort directory some Disney resorts have the comment: A resort services fee is payable prior to check in.
I have always felt that this was unfair and think that timeshare owners should ask their resorts that accept Disney owner exchanges to collect an equivalent fee.

I don't think the theme park admission is supposed to include ME (Magical Express) which is the transportation from the airport and back to the airport. I always thought that was what the $95.00 was for.

Here is what my II Exchange confirmation for OKW says:

"A pre-paid, non-refundable 95 USD resort fee, per unit is required. This fee covers the use of DVC Member Services for making advance dining reservations, golf tee times and other vacation planning. For payment and inquires about other Disney programs, such as Disney's Dining Plan and the Magical Express airport transportation services, which must be reserved prior to arrival call......."

Last winter we stayed at The Boardwalk Villas, and were charged the fee.....We decided not to rent a car, and use the Disney transportation, as well as the Magical Express, to and from the airport.

If you use Disney's services, then it is well worth paying the $95.00. If not, then the fee hurts a little.

It was great not renting a car, for a change. We went everywhere by bus, or boat. It was never more than a 10-15 minute wait.

Also, everything that we bought in the parks was sent to our room, rather than carrying the stuff around all day. Another feature that I really appreciated.

When we went to Universal, we took a mini-van. It was our only additional transportation fee, and it was pretty cheap....I think $10-$12 per person, round trip.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We don't mind paying the fee. Our MF's are $440, the exchange fee for II is only $135, so all we have to pay is $95. Being able to take the bus to Magic Kingdom is a lot better than joining in with the crowds at the beginning of the day, trying to get on the boat or the monorail to MK. We have free parking with our annual passes, so we don't save that fee, but I would rather take the bus to Pleasure Island and not worry about parking over there. We rented a car for our late September trip of 12 days. It was only $202 total for the almost two weeks. What a deal.

Thank you all for your help. This gives me something to consider when exchanging into Orlando.

The Magical Express is relatively new, and Disney was charging the fee long before this service started. I agree, if you can take advantage of the airport transportation the fee doesn’t seem so bad. I prefer to have a rental car because I don’t like to wait for the bus. One perk of staying on property is free parking at the Disney theme parks. I think it’s around $7 a day now so that can add up quick.

I can't understand how Disney or II could try to say it's for services like booking dining reservations and tee times. Everybody has access to that service just by calling the appropriate number. For dinner reservations it's 407-WDW-Dine.
