  • Need Advice re:Wash DC, football, best time to exchange

I know this is a bit of a wierd question, but here goes. I need to request my husbands vacation time and wondering if anyone has any ideas.

We want to go back to DC, but it has to be during football season, so that we can see a home game. (Redskins, right?) That means it is during the school year, but we can take kids out for something so educational as football. Don't want to completely freeze, so fall would be best.

We own Fairfield, but not there. Want to exchange with RCI, but would rent points if need be, instead.

What I am trying to figure is when we would most likely get an exchange (2BR), and when they will be playing at home. I need to pick 2 weeks and hope for a home game during one of them.

Any timesharing football fans have any best guesses? Or season tickets?

    Thanks,
    Tanya

    Redskins Tickets

Redskins tickets are not easy to obtain, so I think that might be my first priority. They only timeshare currently near is the Fairfield and it really isn't that close to the stadium. Don't want to burst your bubble, but I'd make sure I could find tickets then worry about accomadations.

It is drivable from Williamsburg, VA Beach, Massanutten, Ocean City etc., but will be about a 3 hour drive.

They don't release schedule until April. So it may not work well for Sept Game. You can take metro and they have shuttle during the game day. The ticket will be problem.

With FF, maybe you just want to hold the Sun Monday back to back (depend on where you come and how long you plant to spend in the area) for 3 weekend. Then just release the one you don't want. And since they are consider week day, it should not be bad. Even that may not guarantee, since they could have back to back road trip game or have an off week.

The other area should not in the prime season, so you can get a few RCI exchange choices. So you can hold 3 or 4 weekend then release all the other when you know the schedule and get the ticket, then use RCI to exchange a place to stay a week before that day to get 8 day vacation

          LOWER LEVEL SEATING 101-242
          CLUB LEVEL SEATING 301-341
          UPPER LEVEL SEATING 401-454

Help Me Choose My Seats ™

Best Value in the House Rated - For the best dollar value, we recommend the George Preston Marshall Lower Level seating located between the 25-yard lines. Redskin fans will enjoy sections 101-142 and 201-242. If you’re traveling to DC to support your team, look for seats in sections 121-122 and 221-222 along the visitor's sideline.

Excellent Seats Rated - Looking to impress an important client or someone special? Joe Gibbs Club Level seats in sections 321-322 and 301-342 are the place to be. The Club Level is enclosed and offers wider seats with cup holders. You’ll enjoy the extra amenities of large screen televisions, five furnished lounges, a Hooters restaurant and two internet cafes.

Good Seats Rated - The recently added and trendy Field Club Dream sections offer the closest seats to the field you can find in the NFL. Field Club Dream seats include sections 2-42 in conjunction with the Lower Level sections. If you’re looking to be as close as possible to the bone-crushing NFL action without wearing a helmet, Field Club Dream seats are for you. You also gain Club Level amenities such as exclusive access to bars, lounges and restaurants with Field Club Dream tickets.

Economical Seats Rated - Check out the Pete Rozelle Upper Level seats in sections 406-423 and 432-448. Keep in mind the cooler temperatures late in the season. FedEx Field is an open air stadium. Higher rows equal lower temperatures and more wind-chill, so don't forget to bundle up.

Seats to Avoid - Try to choose seats above row 5 in the 100 level sections. If you’re down too low, your view of sweeping runs and passing plays to the near sideline may be obstructed.

Miscellaneous - Need a reason to show up early or stay after the game? Check out the Tailgate Club before the game. Located between sections 411-417, the Tailgate Club features great grilled food, a large selection of soft drinks, flat screen televisions and Xbox video games to kill some time before the coin-toss.
The Wild Goose Landing, located between sections 330-334, offers 5th quarter fun and an outside patio with a live band after the final whistle.

Children - Children under 3 years old are welcome to enjoy a game, at no cost, with a Lap-Pass for each paid ticket. We suggest checking your toddler(s) in with the FedEx Field concierge. Your future NFLers will then be fitted with a wrist bracelet and you’ll be notified which sections are reserved for Lap-Pass seating.

Assuming I am willing to take my chances on getting tickets, and, of course, dependent on the schedule, do you guess it would be easier to get a September or October week at FF Alexandria? What are the chances of getting anyweek if I wait til the NFL schedule comes out?

The trip is really to revisit DC, the game is more of a bonus. Although to my husband the game is a requirement. But it also doesn't matter which team, or which stadium, he just wants to start making trips to see all of the NFL teams.

We saw the Colts at Buffalo many years ago and that was a blast. I am not above using a third party to obtain tickets, although not my first choice.

Thanks everyone for all your help!

Have you check their inventory on-line? Right now, if you can get 10/15/06's game ticket, there are plenty of 1 BR avail.

It probably depends on game and if there is any event in town.

I did look at FF inventory for next year (planning for 2007), but we will probably need to use RCI. Which of course leaves me guessing.

May just pick a week and then see about either the Redskins or Baltimore. Maybe Carolina? Anything else within 2 hours?

It will be a guessing game, but if it has any indication, then you should be able to wait till the NFL give out the schedule and make the plan. But if you just want to get your week set and worry about the game ticket, Since you are not really need to see Redskins, it should work O.K. If the worse, NJ is about 4 hr drive and Philly is about 3 hr drive from that area. But add 2 Hr on the game day.

Yeah, I think that is good advice. I guess I will have no choice, anyway. We are sitting here discussing the possibilty of going to a game on the way to DC. Would take a lot of planning, but may give us more flexibilty. More stadiums to choose from, anyway.

Any major difference in DC between September and October?

                    Thanks again.

The tree usually turn color at the end of Sept, so if you walk or drive around in Oct, some of the neighborhood will be really astonish.

Other than that, I don't quite sure if I can tell.
