Question about exchanging into Aruba

I would like to trade for a week in Aruba toward the end of January 2008, probably into one of the Marriotts since I own at Marriott Shadow Ridge.

Would I have a better chance with an A/C or through flexchange?

NOTE: I haven't gotten my A/C yet and realize it's only good for one year. I was told to deposit my week, exchange into II around January 2007, and that I would then have the A/C through January 2008. Does this sound correct?

You are best off putting a request in as soon as possible, and using the AC as a tool of last resort, imho. If you want your A/C to be good through January 08, then you can't deposit your week until January of 07. If your week is already deposited, then put in your request now, you will be up in the queue for 08. Hopefully you own a Platinum week at Shadow Ridge...

I only have a gold week. And the problem is, is that my deposit is up in November 2007. I would have to request an extension (of three months) and was told I could only request within a two-month time frame of my extension. So I figured they meant during the flexchange period.

So the A/C should be used for a lesser demand place and week?

If your deposit expires in November 2007, then how do you plan to get an A/C? When is/was your checkin date at your home resort? Do you mean that your time to reserve you week at your home resort is going to lapse? Have you made a deposit with II yet?

What I finally did was got my A/C which I have to use within a year. I still have a studio deposited in II which I will have to use by November 2007. If I don't use it by then, I might try to extend it. And I just deposited a lock-off into II which I have a while to use and with that I can request Aruba for the first part of 2008. That seemed to be my best option.
