  • Which is better, II or SFX

I'm new and scared, lol. Which one should I use? Thanks!

    What do you own?

My instinct is, if one of the chain properties, like Marriott, HGVC, Disney, etc, II will do better for you. If not, it'll depend on the property and where you want to go.

      Thanks

I have Marriott Aruba, so I guess it's II for me.

Yes, definitely II. Also, consider rent-swapping or direct exchanges. Ownertrades.com is a Marriott-only direct exchanging site.

II still doesn't blow my skirt up, but I may have to go back to them for some deals I'm working on.

Hi Pat - FYI, HGVC (Hilton Grand Vacations Club) is affiliated with RCI and SFX, not I.I.

vacationlover2 - It is not a case of one being better than the other. These are two different business models.

As Pat stated, if you are interested in exchanging "internally" within the Marriott Resort system (Marriott to Marriott trades), you might be better off using I.I. as they operate a Marriott Member preferential system with a priority access, or simply go through Ownertrades.com which is a Marriott Owners direct exchange system, which probably will save you money compared to I.I.

There are a number of benefits you get with SFX that you wouldn't get with I.I. but this is not the place for that discussion.

Both companies are good, and offer different options. It all boils down to your specific needs.

Why restrict your ability to exchange by being tied to just one exchange service? That doesn't make sense when you can access much more without any additional costs.

Thanks Mark. Now I understand the exodus of HGVC owners from RCI
Didn't realize the resorts didn't also affiliate with II.

A number of the HGVC affiliate resorts belong to both RCI and II (but none of the HGVC built resorts belong to II). For example, I'm an owner at Hurricane House on Sanibel Island. I can exchange through II, RCI, HGVC, or SFX.

Most if not all Marriots trade through II, as does Disney. You won't be able to exchange for a Disney through RCI.

Regarding exchanging for HGVC, if you don't want to use RCI, do direct exchanges or rent-swap your points.

Regarding transfers of points, you might ask Seth Nock as he brokers a fair amount of HGVC resale deals and will give you an honest answer. He used to co-moderate the Marriott forum here and is well-known and regarded on TUG. You'll find a number of HGVC auctions on eBay by him.

                      Good luck!
