  • Late deposit. II,RCI or SFX?

    Advice please
I purchased a t/s in Hawaii on e-bay and am waiting for all the paperwork to be completed. The old owners had Feb 18th week reserved. I will not be able to use this week. The resort trades with RCI, II and SFX. At this late date, which would be the best company to use to spacebank. Are any of them more "forgiving" of late deposits? Will my exchange value be so bad that I would be better off trying to rent it out? Never having rented before I am nervous. Is it a complicated process?

TIA for all advice and suggestions!!

IT is really late to deposit it,

and almost too late to find a renter. If I had that problem I would ask the current owners to change the date for the reservations if they can. Then you may be able to deposit it to any of the trade co's you have listed. fwiw, Greg

If you can't get the reservation changed, and you give it to II, they will give you a Flexchange week that you can use within 60 days. Lots of good inventory pops up, if you can travel on short notice.

You might also consider calling SFX, or emailing Mark... that is President's Week so they may still be able to match an ongoing request with it. See if they have anything currently available that you would like...

DAE might take it as well

I have a NC beach week that I deposited less than a month before check in. They were able to fill an ongoing request.

This is the part of buying resale that I find very sticky. Will the reservation be in your name? Won't it be difficult to deposit a week into your account that was reserved under a different name?

BTW, I believe SFX highly values holiday week deposits. The week you have reserved is a holiday week (President's Week). You might ask Mark if that might balance out the late deposit factor. They sometimes bend rules for newly purchased weeks.

Many thanks to all for the advice!

Thanks everyone! I contacted Mark at SFX and was astonished and very pleased by his prompt reply. We are attempting to work something out. I am hoping that Aloha's seat sale might help too!

How about HTSE? Their website says you can deposit up to 2 week before the date of use:

"Owners of Hawaii properties may deposit their weeks two years in advance or no less than two weeks from the start date. All other deposits must be 90 days away. "

I had a similar situation. I purchased one in Hawaii on October 19th and did not get a copy my recorded deed back until January 8th, my use week was Feb 17th. I check with II and RCI, neither will accept the deposit until you have a copy of the deed. I emailed HTSE but they did not respond. I was able to bank with VRI (ORE).

Where did you buy? if managed by VRI, try them.

Thanks for the additional info. The unit(s) are at The Cliffs Club. If I am not able to work something out, I will definitely give your suggestions a try.
