  • TimeshareTalk poll on exchange company membership

The results of a just concluded poll at UK-based TimeshareTalk on exchange company membership of its participants are interesting:

    RCI 55%
    II 22%
    DAE 18%
    SFX 3%
    Timelinx 2%
    Intervac 1%

374 members voted. Of course this is a more timeshare-educated and European crowd.

I don't get it. People can be members of more than one company so why do the percentages add up to 101?

Or were they asked to choose the one they used the most?

The poll program only let you select one answer. I originally tried to put in both DAE and RCI, but it wouldn't take both, so I just put in DAE.

Rounding off fractions appears to be what causes it to add up to 101.

Looks like RCI is still the clear leader

And even if all the others were combined they still wouldn't equal RCI. They must be doing something right to hold on to the educated in timeshare European crowd.

Pardon my naivety, but why are Europeans more educated in Timeshares?

Sorry... but what do these numbers represent? What are they supposed to determine?

It isn't that Europeans are more educated in timeshares. This poll's participation represents a group more educated in timeshare than the average timeshare member because they read online timeshare boards, and the group also contains more Europeans, because it is a European oriented timeshare board.

Carolinian - What are you suggesting these numbers imply?

It indicates that 3% of those surveyed are obviously more intelligent than the rest.

IMHO, it shows that independents are making inroads on the big exchange companies, at least among timesharers who are knowledgable. The numbers among particular exchange companies probably reflect that DAE has an office in the UK, Timelinx is European-based but is deemphasizing the exchanging part of its business, and SFX, among US based independents, has more of a presence in the UK than most of the other US-based independents.
