  • Overview.

I'm just starting to use this forum and still trying to find my way around.

Is there anywhere that gives an overview of the exchange companies?

I have a week to bank and I'm not sure what to do with it.

    Thanks.

DAE - put anything in, take anything out, free membership, exchange fee $115 - http://www.daelive.com/

HTSE - Put in any week deemed Red by II or RCI and take out any week of the same size, $49 membership, $99 exchange fee, unit size upgrades for a fee, used to be $175, may have gone up recently - www.htse.net

SFX - Only takes deposits from specific resorts and seasons. Different types of memberships available including one that is free. Exchange fee $149 or $129 depending on the membership type. Not sure about upgrade fees -

I don't have the details on Trading places but there are experts around here or just browse http://www.tradingplaces.com/ for answers.

None that I know of here or anywhere else except maybe Timesharing Today Magazine, which does a chart of the companies every year. You can, perhaps cross a few off tho. Unless the resort is affiliatied with both or either of the majors, II and RCI, you can cross from 0 to 2 off. Next is SFX - they don't take every week or every place for exchange and you can ask them on their forum right here on the site. You also can look at the other alternate companies that have a forum here.
I believe that RCI is perhaps the worst alternative for exchanging at this time. I find less available through them every year and they are perhaps the most expensive to use. They have stated in a magazine ad that they want to rent 50,000 weeks out through real estate agents and have several other sites where they rent weeks. It seems to bring one to the conclusion that less is available because more and more deposits are being rented rather than staying or going into the exchange pool.

        Thanks guys.

I'm already familiar with RCI and DAE but not the others so I'll check them out.
