  • Hawaii 2008 with RCI

Thought I may share. I was searching for a 2008 Jul/Aug week with a 2br Myrtle Beach wk 33 deposit 8 month month. (I though a summer week it would do pretty good)

    I got:
Imperial Hawaii Vacation Club (#2605) 1 Studio for Aug 20
    Kuhio Banyan Club (#1297) 8 Studios between Jul 5 & Aug 30
    Kahana Falls (#2788) 2 Hotel 2/2 for Aug 15 & Aug 28

    When I search with Points:
    Imperial Hawaii Vacation Club (#2605) 2 studio & 4 1br Jul & Aug
    Paniolo Greens (#3977) 14 2bd Jul & Aug
    Kona Billfisher (#0029) 4 1br Jul & Aug
    Lea Casa (#0279) 1 1br Jul 14
    Kahana Falls (#2788) 24 hotel, 14 studio, 14 1br & 1 2bd Jul & Aug

Well my 2br summer red beach week does not have enough trade power deposited 8 months out (deposited early Jan). The only studio pulled and mostly at the end of the summer.

Points does not see everything weeks sees. It did not see Kuhio Banyan Club.

For Hawaii, rather than deposit with RCI, you might try www.htse.net , the Hawaii specialist

      Thanks Carolinia,

I did check with htse. They do have a good selection but not much in 2008 yet. I will probably move the Myrtle Beach week into RCI points. I am confirmed a week the 1st week of Aug 2008 for Maui at Kahana Falls. I will be search for a week in Kauai either before or after the Maui week. There were quite a few availability for Kauai in 2007 for poiints so I anticipate they would be avaialble in 2008 also. I will wait for the window to open. I also have the option to exchange a HI week I deposited with VRI when it opens in June. I never seem to find anything with II in Kauai but I exchanged for Oahu and Maui in the past. I have been more disappointed with II than RCI in the last few years that I will probably drop II when my membership expires in a couple of years.

Kauai should be an easier trade and HTSE usually has quite a few weeks at Lawai Beach Resort - we've stayed there twice and enjoyed it.

HTSE has it's place (mostly Kauai) but RCI has a TON more HI inventory. I just picked up a nice 2BR at KCR, Big Island, for Jan. 2009. Can't do that with HTSE.

Different Island, but I just picked up a Bay Club week for Feb/08 in what appears to be a spacebanking. Perhaps it's just a tad early for a lot of weeks for summer?

I share your pain though. Even though our trip is a year away, I was already checking out rental backups the week before this second exchange came through. Our first at the Kona Coast resort popped up about four months ago.

I was able to get Lawai Beach Resort (1-BR) via an RCI Weeks exchange.
I used a middle-quality trader, deposited early and booked far in advance.
