Yes, that is interesting - especially if your week is 7/8 thru 12/13ish - the highest demand time in Cancun.
I would have thought that a 1BR Royal Sands would have a similar trade power to Marriott Aruba Surf 1BR.
My guess is that Marriott has more negotiating leverage with II than do the Royals. So, II gave a slight bump in trading power to Marriott units vs. Royals units.
What size unit were you using? 3BR were you able to see with lower size unit?
Thanks,
Vincent.

Good to see that WorldMark still as strong trading power.
I'm new at exchanging, just received my II membership number today...
I've tried exchanging my 1 bd MAO March, 2008
Here's the result:

Looks like Aruba Ocean Club is a good trader
I didn't think I would be able to see so many 2bd, it is so great looks like I will be able to bring some family members!
I am not Boca, but just to clarify.....it takes 10,000 credits to "book" a 2bd. You can search for "free" -you don't have to have any credits on deposit with II to search-WM gives you a "float" week in which you choose studio, 1,2 or 3 bd to search with. Even if you search with the 3bd and only select a 2 bd-then you are charged 10,000 credits or 4,000 if it is during flextime-1bd and studios are less credits. You can do a deposit first if need be-but you can also start a search without ever depositing any credits.
SO that's how it works! Thanks for the tip. I've only ever done Flexchange with WM so it always takes the same number of points. Good to know that if I search with a larger unit, I will only be charged for the size unit I actually reserve.
Oh, and in addition to being able to borrow points for exchanges, also remember that you would be charged a housekeeping fee if you've used up your allowance - and the WM billing department has been running several months behind, so don't be surprised if you don't get the bill right away.

Vincent,
I always search with a 3 br unit. I think I can see everything with it. I can see studios, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedroom units.
I have booked 3 bedroom units as well.
You don't need to worry about selecting the right size unit because WorldMark will only deduct the proper amount of credits for the transaction no matter what you search with.
I own weeks 26, 27 and 28 at Foxrun and cannot pull the two bedrooms during those two holiday weeks of Christmas and New Year's. But according to a conversation we are currently having on Foxrun Usergroup, weeks 19 and 23 are seeing the two bedrooms.
It leads me to believe that spring at Lake Lure is a more in-demand time of year than even summer, which would be different from many other parts of the country. That is so interesting! Here I was, buying prime summer weeks, and my trade power is not as good as the spring weeks. Who would have thought that would be the case. I would love to know how the other weeks trade within II. The resort gave away green weeks a few years back, so I guess those are probably tradining as well as our summer weeks, since spring (though it is red) is trading better than summer. I think this is odd.
I called II to ask the question about trading power between one time of year and another, and the person could not help me with anything.
I'm seeing the efficiencies Christmas and New Years with the "free" Inverness at Walden 1BR summer week. It seems to be seeing more than the summer Foxrun week! It's not seeing the holiday Westin weeks.

djyamyam,
I can see all the one bedrooms at the Westin and the Marriotts. I cannot see the two bedrooms, but the spring weeks can. So Foxrun still has better trade power than some, but I am very impressed with the spring weeks right now and shocked that I cannot see the two bedrooms that spring weeks see.
There was a drastic drop in trade power for Foxrun last fall, which I noticed, but I find it quite perplexing that the spring 2007 and 2008 can pull better than summer. Could be a mistake within II?
The resort needs a facelift and our quality rating within II has dwindled for sure.
This trading test has been fun and I would love to do another, outside of the hard-to-get Marriott and Westin trades for those average weeks.
