I have a exchange at Disney's OKW in Sept. that I cannot use. I called II and was told my options are (1) cancel the exchange and they will give a replacement weeek that will have the same trading power as my orginal week OR (2) I can do a re-trade for a different Disney week if I find something. Is one option better than the other? TIA

The week they give back to you will have the same trade power but will have some search restrictions that make it difficult to look for what you want. I'm sorry but I can't remember exactly what they were when I did that awhile back. I think the replacement week I got was only good for 1 year, too. The rep I talked to said to wait until about 65 days before the exchange check-in date to give myself the maximum time, which I did.
If there is a suitable alternative trade available now you would be better off re-trading. Otherwise cancel but wait until July, giving yourself about 65 days ahead of your original exchange. Then put in a request against the replacement week. The legitimate object of Government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done but cannot do at all or cannot do so well for themselves”- Lincoln

and it is a dopey policy because it encourages people to wait until 65 days out rather then get the good week back in the 'pool' early.
But they didn't ask me!

A few things worth noting:
1. If you wait until under 60 days to cancel, you will only get a Flexchange week, that can only be used within a 60 (or 59) day window.
2. Your cancellation replacement week will expire one year from the date of cancellation, so plan accordingly.
3. Either way, the week you re-book will not be cancelable (except within 24 hours of booking).
