  • Stick with RCI or give SFX or DAE a chance?

Palm Beach Shores, 1-BR, week 25 in 2009

Up to now I had an RCI strategy that worked. I'd use a 4th of July Fairfield Seawatch week to search RCI online, and when something turned up it often could be held with the Palm Beach Shores week:

    2002 Leoniki Residence, Crete, September
2003 Palm Springs Tennis Club, December
2004 Ft Lauderdale Beach Resort, March
    2005 Summit at Massanutten, March
    2006 Paniolo Greens, HI, December
    2007 Cameron House, Scotland, June
2008 Lawaii Beach Resort, HI, September

But Fairfield has discontinued ARP deposits to RCI, so Palm Beach Shores will have to fend for itself if I keep it with RCI.

Should I give SFX or DAE a chance?
I'd be looking mostly for May, June or September weeks in Kauai, Aruba, St. John, Grand Mayan, Barbados, Venice, Tuscany, and the better properties in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and California Coastal.

[I also posted this OY - - hope that's OK]

Many people have been happy with SFX. Marks preasence here is a great help to both us and SFX. Give SFX a try.

There are 'Ask' forums here for DAE and SFX so why not ask them the question directly. First question is will they accept your unit. Next is what they think the chances are of obtaining an exchange to your desired areas on your required dates.
As you are aware, any company that depends predominantly on deposits can guarantee success.
On your last point - it's a free country and you should be free to ask the question on any board you wish.

I see you already posted to see if SFX will accept that resort. That would be step one. They would probably be the best source for Grand Mayans and maybe Aruba. I'm sure Mark will tell you.

Trading Places has and gets a lot of Kauai, Palm Desert and SCal. So you may want to consider them as well.

HTSE has oodles of Lawaii Beach Resort.

I really don't know how much Venice and Tuscany DAE gets. They do occasionally get Barbados. Hopefully Carolinian will chime in. You can join them for no fee and do a search first.

All these independents have representation here.

St John I don't see happening as an exchange with anyone.

If you are a Fairfield Plus points owner, you can reserve any unit at any of the FF/Wyn resorts that are acceptable to SFX, you are not limited to your home resort. Also, you are not limited to ARP weeks either.

Given your list and travel timeframes, I would try SFX. You will likely get some good bonus weeks for your deposit, and a Platinum membership will get you an upgrade to a 2 bedroom at no upcharge (if it's available).

Hi Lawren - FYI we also get many weeks in the Hawaiian Islands and North and Southern California.

                Good to know Mark.

It is difficult for me to make any judgement at all about where you get the most inventory. The other companies I have a "feel" for as I can see "some" of what they get and when on-line and can study it.

                Thanks.
