  • II exchange questions?

New to the "exchanging " scene, maybe someone here can help.Deposited a unit w/II.Found a unit in Orlando May08 while doing an online search, clicked on the exchange button and it tells me I have 18 min to complete the transaction. So I gave them my c/c info and thought I had the exchange. Then went over to my history section but noticed it says "pending confirmation" Is this the 24 hrs.hold that everyone 's talking about? So did I get the unit or not? I'm a little confused.I have spent many hours reading this forum ,thought I am ready for it but I guess not! Thanks for any help.....Angie

They credit card charge takes 24 hours to go through (or something like that) and it will say pending for about one day. After one day, you will receive a confirmation email. This happened to me last week, and I called them about it. I did get my confirmation email after one day.

They also use that time to verify you deposit is good. Occasionally there is an error with the home resort allowing the deposit (MF's not showing paid, someone didn't get the paperwork done, wrong week deposited et.....) I have had issues on occasion with one of our resorts when I've done an exchange. It can be very frustrating to think everything is in line and there should be no problems only to have someone at your home resort cause a problem by not getting their work done. Once they've verified your deposit and verfied the payment then you'll get your confirmation information.

Can you book back to back weeks with the same resort?

Yes, if you have two units deposited that will pull the resort you want and if there are back to back units available (may not be the same unit) at that resort and nobody gets them before you reserve them.

              II exchange

Another question-I still don't understand the 24 hrs hold that 's talked about in the various threads here. When I click on the "exchange" button, shouldn't I have 24 hrs hold on the unit instead of 18 minutes?I'm pretty sure I've read about this in the different forums! Can anyone explain pls,I'd really appreciate this.Angie

The 18 minutes is what you have to complete the transaction on the unit will be released for others to pick. As I understand the way it works with II, is that you can call II within 24 hours of making a reservation and they can release it for you and there is no charge. That gives you time to check out flights, car rentals, etc. I have never used that feature with II, so others that have maybe able to add more information on how it works.
