Orlando usually has a good bit of available space. Interval is not as familiar to me as RCI, but I would say your chances are excellent. Log in to Interval now and see what is available for a geetaway week; you should be able to exchange yokur Scotland week for nearly anything showing as a getaway. Of course you did not mention year...I am presuming 2007...but maybe 2008? Yopu can do a request first with Interval before depositing your week.

Shouldn't be a problem IMO. October is hurricane season so keep that in mind.

We exchanged into Macdonald Dalfabur in Aviemore back in 2002. Nice little town but I have to say the chalet we stayed in was bit different from what we've come to expect of our stays at US timeshares.

October is a great time to go as long as you miss the UK school holiday- but that may just be when you can best travel. October Hurricanes are usually less frequent and less severe than the August-September high hurricane season. I was in Orlando in 2005 when Wilma hit- a lot of rain and wind, but little damage- Orlando seems to be enough inland to get lessened severity in the storms.

We visited Orlando in October some years ago. We had one evening of torrential rain and one day with light rain. Maybe we were lucky.
We stayed at Orange Lake Country Club in the days before it became Orange Lake Country. At least I assume it's now a country - it's big enough to be one.

We've done many Octobers in Orlando. It can be rainy, but it's usually not a cold rain, so not a disaster. Just bring along a poncho and keep right on going.

It's a very nice time of year to visit. When we started going in October many years ago, it was very quiet. It seems to get a little busier every year. Our school system moved our Fall break to the Columbus Day week and it is typically the only week that's a bit hard to find the best resorts available. If you can avoid that week, so much the better.

I wouldn't say any resort in the U.S. but Las Vegas has enough timeshare units that many consider it overdeveloped (with more being added every year). October is a more popular time to visit Las Vegas because the weather is considerably milder than the summers which can get as hot at 47C or 117 degree's (rare but does happen and did this year). I would think that you would be able to see availability just about any time for Vegas.

You might consider purchasing a get-away week for Orlando--there should be quite a few to choose from--and using your own week to trade to Las Vegas, which will, I think, be less likely to have get-away weeks available.

For traveling within the U.S., consider our low priced air lines: Southwest, Jet Blue, etc. The web site Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com does searches and includes the low priced airlines in its search.

WDW has some Halloween events in October. Epcot has a fall food and wine festival which ends in early November as I recall. Oct might be best for kids, early Nov for adults.
