  • Just a warning on cost of II AC's

Just to let everyone know IIs policy is if you place an ongoing request with an AC to charge you for the largest unit you were willing to accept.

I had an ongoing request for Disney properties and asked for a 1 or two bedroom unit. I got a call that they had a 1 bedroom to fill my request, and took it. I was charged $299 the two bedroom rate. I called II to request the $50 refund, and was told that their pollicy is to charge you for the most largest room that you were searching for no matter what you took. I was transfered to a Customer Relations Rep and was told that this is correct and it is explaned in the Terms and Conditions.

If I had known this I am not sure if I would have taken the unit or not, but it seems that II should explane this when you place an ongoing request, and when they call to confirm one.

Also, if you have both an international and domestic location on an ongoing search, I think you pay the higher fee regardless of which you reserve. Or if you have a Marriott and non-Marriott, again you pay the higher fee regardless.

I almost never do ongoing searches with them because of their policy of finalizing the booking as soon as they match something without double checking with you. RCI's policies are much more customer friendly in that respect. And, yes, I know that you can cancel with II if you notice the confirmation within 24 hours, but that's just way too chancey for me.

Sometimes you just have to wonder how the people that make up such idiotic rules sleep at night. Customer service certainly isn't in their thoughts when they do something like this. On the other hand it's a nice tiddy profit of $50 or more for doing nothing. I suppose the stock holders like those easy profits.

What a ridiculous rule. I'll bet that rule can be challenged. You pay for a 2br unit and they only deliver a 1br unit? That has to violate some law and not just my sensibilities.

I got nailed on that one, but didn't mind it since I got an early confirmation for a 09 Kauai week with a mediocre trader. Just wrote it off as cost of doing business.

I had a request in for DVC using my A/C. I said I would except a 1 BR at 3 of the resorts or a 2 BR at the other 2 resorts. They charged me for a 2 BR and then I accepted a 1 BR. They did credit my account for $50. I had to ask for it and then call back a month later to remind them.

Noone ever mentioned that it was their policy not to refund the money.

How long ago was this? This is very interesting. When I asked about this when they called to confirm the trade the rep said I had to wait till the unit was confirmed after the 24 hour pending was over. It is when I called back and it was too late to change my mind, that they said it was IIs policy that with ongoing requests the price charged was for the largest unit you would take.

I confirmed the unit on July 12. At that time I asked them about the $50 overcharge because I took the 1 BR. They told me they would credit it to my account. I had to call and remind them and the credit showed up on my account 2 weeks ago.

As I mentioned in my post, that's just way too iffy for me. With my luck, they would confirm on the day that I had no Internet access for some reason and didn't check.
