  • Where should I go with my SFX weeks

Well, I had a feeling this was going to happen. My 2 RCI weeks pulled 2 HHI exchanges for me. One for February, and one for July 2008. SFX did not come through with either request. Now that my 3 SFX weeks are still sitting there, I need to use them. I can travel February vacation 2009, Easter vacation 2009 and from 6/19/09 up until 6/29/09 when my SFX weeks will expire. I can only travel when the kids are out of school. If I have to use them somewhere other than the East coast (because it appears the east coast exchanges are limited), where should I go. I would rather not travel more than 4 hours from NY by plane if I am only going for 1 week at a time. We do not want skiing, hiking or water stuff. Texas, Tennassee, New Mexico would be good, but I am not sure of the availability, time it takes to get there, and the weather. I would also take anything in the New England area for August 2008, but that is probably not going to happen because of the limited availability for that area. Any suggestions? Otherwise I will loose my weeks.

Thanks Frank. I thought I would see what suggestions I come up with. I just put in for the Carribbean for Easter week 2009, however I don't know how hard that is to get.

What about San Francisco? I know it's a longer flight than you would like, but it's a great city with lots to do in the area, and flights are reasonable and direct.

While Mark and the SFX employees could give you some good guidance, I've found that when I am the most open, week wise and resort wise, I've had great luck. I also request my exchanges up to 18 months in advance. That way I'm first in line. My biggest surprise was getting Scotland in July - and I had my choice of weeks.

          Best of luck to you.

I second this idea - slightly longer flight but a great area to see.

Would you consider Mexico? - the Cancun/Riviera Maya area is about a 4 hour flight from NY and there are direct flights from JFK and Newark.
I will be going to Grand Mayan Riviera Maya in February and having stayed at their properties in Nueva Vallarta and Acapulco, I can't wait!!!!

We have been to San Francisco several times, and it is not our fancy. Been to Mexico twice. Once to Cancun, and once to Matzalan, and both times came home very sick. I'm a little nervous about doing that again.

I wouldn't hesitate staying at the GM again - I drank the water without difficulty...but I can see why u would be nervous....

I don't know exactly where you're coming from, but you could certainly try Williamsburg. There tends to be a lot of availability there. There's generally a fair bit of availability for Texas as well. If it's during the summer and you'd like to try something different, could look at going to the Wisconsin Dells. Haven't been there myself, but I've heard it's very nice.

I have wanted to go to the Wisconsin Dells for a long time. However, it will only be my hubby and I. We are not interested in water parks or any water sports. Would there be enough sightseeing there for us?

I read that San Fransisco is not your thing. But, what about San Diego, or somewhere else in California? Maybe wine country. Or, how about Tahoe?

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We went there on an SFX exchange a couple of years ago. We brought two of our kids, but yes, I think there would be enough sightseeing for two adults, if you're easily entertained. There are some nice boat rides where you can go and see the rock formations and walk around a bit. That would be a couple of days. There are comedy clubs, shows, a water-skiing show, things like that. Horseback riding, golf. You could take an easy day trip to Madison, Wisconsin--it's about a 90-minute drive. Chicago is about 3 or 4 hours away.

Rapmarks Pat, who posts on TUG, lives out there and could tell you about the sights.
