  • Upgrading RCI exchanges via "internal exchange"

This worked great for me, has anyone tried this successfully?

I had a Sat-Sat exchange in Hawaii, and then a Monday check-in week...with two nights in "limbo" so to speak. I called the second resort...the one with the Monday checkin...and they allowed me to use their internal exchange program for a $99 (plus tax) fee. Not only did I get to check-in Saturday...two days prior to the original date given to me by RCI, but I also got lucky and got an upgrade in unit, a 2 br/2 ba instead of a one br 5/4 unit. And I had a great oceanfront view, top floor too! This was at the Maui Sunset, a mom and pop resort in Kihei, with a very approachable management company.

I kinda doubt big resort chains would allow anyone to trade up their RCI exchange via using an internal exchange program or in-house rental program. But it's worth a try, as it worked out great for us. Anyone else ever try to do this sort of thing with success?

We did it at the Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan a few years ago. There was an extra fee as well, but I don't remember how much.
