Wow, Kathleen. I've never had that issue. I often deposit and exchange on-line all in one transaction. The confirmation shows up with in a day or two, with a pending confirmation showing on-line immediately. I would hazard a guess that there is some sort of restriction imposed by your resort rather than II. If this is the case, why don't you deposit your week early on so it is just sitting waiting for your decision down the line? The 60 day thing would no longer be an issue. It can sit banked for 2 years past the reserved date giving you plenty of time to choose a week of vacation.
Not sure...guess we thought due to hubby's job restrictions and the limitations on II and were nervous that we would not get availability and once you deposit you can't withdraw. So we just kept on using our resort.

The problem with real life is that there is no background music.
I have a half dozen resorts in my II account. Some resorts show the ability to deposit units in two separate years, and some just show one year available for deposit. I assume that those that show two years available for deposit have the special arrangement with II. I don't know what arrangement the Royals have with II for deposits.
My issue with II has been this....our family has not been able to book in advance due to my husbands job schedule (thanks honey ) So when he finally gets a vacation it can be last minute. Well II will not allow you to deposit your week last minute and book a vacation (even if it's somewhere like middle America and available). You must deposit your week and wait a minimum of 60 days before you can pursue an exchange (no exceptions!). This is with a Gold membership.
We have decided to cancel our membership with II. Then when they call and ask us to renew our membership recently and I say no thanks and they ask why, I tell them why...they hang up on me. Nice!
Kathleen
I have never heard of this. The only thing I can think of is if you deposit your week less than 60 days prior to check in you can only exchange for something during flexchange but you can begin that search as soon as you deposit. II will still have to verify the deposit with your home resort but that generally only takes a few days. I have deposited & found an exchange right away and II will hold the exchange until the deposit is verified.
I would call and talk to a supervisor at II, I think someone gave you bad information.
The Royal resorts can deposit at 2 years out - I have friends that own there and i exchanged for presidents week 2007 in May 2005.
If you search online with II this is what u will see....

I agree with chelle - you are only restricted if YOUR deposit is under 60 days.

I agree with the others. There is no wait time of 60 days before you can use your deposit. As soon as II verifies it, you're good to go.
If you make your deposit within 60 days of check-in, you are restricted to flexchange, and you must do your own searches. But even with that, you can start searching immediately after verification.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

That's not what we were told. I am going to investigate further. Could it be that because my home resort is.....yes I am going to say it and don't make fun guys because I am tired of seeing the name being trashed here "Westgate Town Center"?

Tony's pulling your leg - and probably other body parts as well.
So the big question to you is.....how far from the time of use ARE u depositing- is it less then 60 days?
Less then 6 months????
Less then 8 months???
less then a year?
All these answers are going to affect your trading power.

Well that was the orginial issue. We wanted to deposit and try to use it within say a month ( last minute vaca ...hubby's work schedule was real tough) but we were told we had to deposit and wait 60 days before we could use it.

I can deposit my Cape Cod July week today and do an exchange to travel next week
So YES, that can be done.
The question I am asking you is - did you deposit your March 30 check-in at Westgate on March 10 into your II account?
Because if you deposited your week 20 days before your check-in date, then the use is severely restricted.
If you deposited March 30 check-in at Westgate into your II account on February 25 - you would be restricted but better.
A REAL example - my friends are TS Virgins and didn't understand the whole exchange versus use thing. I realized/remembered on February 23 they had an April 22 check-in to the Aruba Surf Club - they called II and deposited - because they deposited less then 60 days before the use date - they could only search and confirm an exchange WITHIN 60 DAYS. So even though the week would still be good for 2 years, they couldn't call II today and use the week for an exchange in November, they could only search and confirm within the next 60 days.
So in REAL life, the week will expire around April 22/23 this year - my friends son is off from school the week of April 19 but we can't book anything for him until February 19, 20,21 because of the severe, late deposit restriction.
