  • What Are My Options

OK, please help me with my options for a trade. I deposited Presidents week 2008 at Marriott Streamside at Vail - Evergreen building into II in Feb 2007 and am still sitting on a request for any of 3 Royal Resorts in Cancun for April 2009, which is a Saturday departure before Easter Sunday.

From the info on this site, I've discovered that II allows the Royals to deposit two years in advance and since I haven't had a match and there are plenty of Royal Resort weeks available for non-prime time two years out, I figure I'm not getting an exchange.

My exchange ends Feb 2010, which means if I don't get spring break in Cancun 2009, I'm going to have to try and get something for summer 2009, that I really don't want or just blow off the week in which case I will NEVER EVER deposit into II again as long as I live.

So I was thinking of maybe a Marriott exchange somewhere on the East Coast (Driving distance). I also read somewhere that you can pay for an extension for the trade. Can anyone explain this to me. I am so freaking pissed off at II right now. I have never trusted them and I'm sure somebody that works at II with a lousy time share at some dumpy place has got my week in Cancun.

April 2009 is a long way off and I've exchanged into that month at the Royals several times and I think you will be able to also. Also, I'm not sure that the Royals can be deposited more than a year in advance.

Right now there are weeks at the Sands and Islander through the end of 2009 but I would think those are developer weeks because they showed up all at once.

I agree with Tony that you still have a good shot at getting a week from owners deposts. If you don't have something 6 months out, then I might start to be a little concerned but I have seen lots of weeks deposited just beyond the 60 day Mark. I have traded in in April, May and June all at the 60 day mark.

Yes, the Royals deposit up to two years out.

Did you deposit a 2BR? Because size matters with II bigtime.
Several friends exchanged into the Royals for Presidents Day 2007 and the one friend who used a 1BR unit got into VCI - the one Royal I might avoid (because I REALLY like the ocean and the strip area)

Holy Week is the BIGGEST travel time in Mexico - many Mexican families travel that week. So it could be a tough trade.....

BUT, my first thought is that maybe you are using a 1BR? and trying to get a 2BR (even thought RS and RI 'lock-off' - many are deposited as 2BRs)

A Studio sleep 6 isn't going to do it for the Royals 2BR sleep 6 unit....JMHO

edit - I just read your other thread which is on the Royal Resort/Mexico Board - and you DID deposit a 2BR .... sooooooo, you just might have to be a little more patient.
I have successfully traded thru II many times with Marriotts and other ownerships....and u certainly have given them a valuable week - had you thought about adding the Marriotts in St Kitts and St Thomas and Aruba to your requests?
They are 4 resorts you could be very happy with and you are almost at the 13 month mark when multi week owners can reserve and deposit .... another option is the 3 Hyatts in Key West - and a friend successfully traded her 2BR Plat MAR Grande Vista there the week before Easter.
Also Marriott Ocean Point would be a great early April destination....gorgeous beaches and no passport!

Keep us posted on how you do

You can extend your deposit for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year. However, you will need to do your own searching, and can only exchange during the flexchange period. (59 days prior to check-in) You can NOT place a request through II, when you extend your deposit.

Also, there are no refund on extension fees. So, if you choose a 6 month, or 1 year extension, and exchange sooner, you will not get any money refunded.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

            Still NO Exchange

Well the one year mark has come and gone for the week I want in Cancun and I still have no exchange. When I use the II website to search for other exchange options for different locations & time periods, the result is basically no different than the junk you get with an AC or a getaway. I really feel screwed by II at this point.
