  • Is a Fl East Coast Summer Week a Strong Trader in RCI?

I am thinking of buying a summer week on the FL east coast - Discovery Beach, Resort on Cocoa Beach, Ron Jon (around that area) - to use mainly for trading BUT to be able to use it ourselves every few years, as it would be a drive to vacation for us.

I am trying to balance "buy where you want to go and can go in a pinch" with trading to other new places at (hopefully) a resonable total cost. Total cost for my decision making process includes MFs, a portion of purchase price and exchange fee.

My main question right now is: do summer FL east coast weeks trade well? Very well? Mearly ok?

    Thanks!

Most any summer beach resort is a strong trader.

I really don't know as I have never had one to play with. My guess is it wouldn't do very well and you'd be better off with GA, SC or NC beachfront.

I'd have to agree with Lawren on this one. I would not buy this for trading. You'd be much better off with MB, HH, NC, etc. Also, RI, CC, MD, come to mind.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thanks for the replies so far! I do have a summer Cape Cod studio that trades very stongly. I was hoping to buy something we'd like to use once in a while this time though.

Does anyone here have actual experience with trading a summer beach week on the FL east coast??

            Which Resort

I'm assuming you are saying Discovery Beach Resort, not RonJon Resort. It has a good location and I search Florida summer availability often and don't see it listed. I think Florida beach in summer is busy with families and would do okay as a trader. (I have no experience with this, just that I spend most summers in Florida!)

I don't have any personal experience with Cocoa Beach, but summer would most likely be considered "Gold" season, and in areas like MB, HH, etc., summer is considered "Platinum." I would think the trading power would reflect that difference. Not to say that it's not a strong "gold" season trader.

For instance, there are always some FL summer weeks hanging around in II, while MB, HH, NC, RI, CC, MA, MD, NY, are very hard, if not impossible, to come by, outside of flexchange.

I'll side with the majority. Trading power is a complex formula stored in an empty mayonaisse jar beneath Bartles and James porch.

It involves supply and demand. There is a plentiful supply of resorts in NE FL. The demand side is questionable.

TP also involves VEPs, which reflects on resort quality and vacation experience. NE FL is not an area known for high marks in those areas.

A peak summer week at an upper midwest lake resort, like Breezy Point, or something Cape Coddish, would be better.

Ok. I bow to the majority! I am going to put aside the idea of buying an east coast Fl beach week as a strong trader. If I decided that a good trader is ok, then I'll re-look at it. Thank you all.

Now I'll post my next question but on a new thread
