I would expect that sales of new units and resales are tanking. How are TS prices on Ebay and Craigslist holding up? Where are the bargains?
I bet anyone selling something that is discretionary is worried right now.
TS resales on eBay have tanked in the past two years because of the volume of TS dumped on eBay for $1 by the post card companies. I don't think the price of gas has affected that. Now, the availability through exchange companies might be affected with more demand for short distance drive to locations from dense population areas.
I just bought a $39,599 timeshare for $0.11 plus closing.

A few thoughts...
1) There could be more consolidation in the industry.
2) New construction/remodeling might get put on hold.
3) More resorts might have additional companies participating/sending people. When we were at Hever Hotel in England using El Cid points in April, there were people from many, many timeshare programs at the resort.
2) Maintenance fees that used to go up 5% per year could jump to 10%.
3) We know of people that planned to have 16 family members in Cancun and abandoned the idea after looking at airfares this year.
4) We will be driving to Mazatlan then Puerto Vallarta from Northern California. We have a hybrid but I think gas costs will be double to get there. We know others that have driven down for a month but I doubt they will justify the drive this year.
5) The "All Inclusive" resorts like Velas Vallarta could raise their AI fees if food costs go up due to transportation. I believe they told me the AI rate was $265/day during Christmas. That's ridiculous! We'll go to the new Costco in PV, stock up and cook most of our own meals.
6) Trading weeks for cruising will cost more as cruise fares are up substantially in addition to fuel surcharges.
7) The upside is there might get the weeks you want at distant resorts as others stay closer to home.
