If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Originally posted by SpenceIt's another timeshare plan where you buy into a group ownership, look here. You get a week every year and have different priority for scheduling your week each year. Some memberships are always Red, some rotate btwn Red-White-Blue (not so good). I bought it for the houseboat options but now they've sold them all. Mine is for sale...
OK, thank you, I have never heard of them before. I will look over their website, and learn what they are about.....Angela

No tips or tricks but here is what I do.
Unlike you I bought primarily for trading.
I do have some preferences going in. I don't like ski weeks or skiing. I'm looking to extend usage also so would pick a resort week at least in summer of the following year. I would prefer not to pay any additional user fees because either the resort week received has higher fees or the upgrade fee for a second bedroom. I don't pick Mexico weeks since in general I don't know much about them. At the moment I want to trade through RCI. Needless to say, I'm not retired, have kids, and would prefer Summer holidays periods. Pretty much your innocent timeshare buyer.
I have three tiers of selections.
1) Resorts I can travel to by car. I have three available, of which two I would want, and pick prime summer weeks. I may use a week if obtained here depending on what other summer plans I have made.
2) Resorts for trading. Again I pick prime Summer weeks in resorts that I think would have the most trading power and have at least a decent number of units/weeks. I could split this catagory based on bedroom sizes and additional fees. Members of II may also pick resorts based on affiliation.
3) A couple of fallback resorts and periods which I think I could get.
I resist making catagory 3 too easy because if I fail in the MROP process there is still the ORE weeks scheduling and if I fail in that then I will be given a credit good to the end of 2007. Sometimes extending usage is good also.
ORE does spacebank weeks in advance in RCI so there are sometimes good weeks around, the earlier in the year credits are used usually the greater choice. These spacebanked weeks are not shown when searching online for weeks available on the ORE website by the way.
Last year my trading priority was RED 3 and I got a resort in tier 1) so in general until priority 5, I would ignore the priority of my week when selecting.Mark B.

I phoned ORE about how to get an RCI deposit and while they have been really helpful with understanding the annual scheduling, I'm still confused about getting an RCI pre-deposited week. Did you ask them what weeks were available, and then pick one, or did they just pick one for you? They asked me what week I would want deposited and then told me none of the weeks I wanted were available. But they never gave me any information on what actually was available.
Thanks for any info!

I started this thread because I don't know anything. For 2006 I reserved a Xmas week at Powhatan online after the scheduling thinking I could depsot it into RCI. I tried and it kept being rejected by RCI. I complained to ORE and they took back the Powhatan and gave me some week they had deposited with RCI already, I think.... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Unless a credit transferred to you from the prior owner then there would be no weeks available to you.
Sounds like a situation where no credits transferred and you are participating in annual scheduling for the first time. Is that the case.?
In RCI lingo, you currently have no weeks spacebanked available for exchange.?Mark B.
