  • Expiring RCI Week

Never thought I'd have this problem but I have a week expiring end of Aug. I know I can pay to extend but I don't think I could use it. My kids can't use it, I don't have any more vacation time... - I don't know anyone to give it to... any suggestions? I just hate to let it expire.

If you can't take even a three day weekend, then I would pay to extend it. You can't book and rent it out. Only other choice is giveaway to charity or some nice Timeshareforums person.

personally I would extend it and then maybe you can get away for a weekend on it, or offer it to a person on here with just paying you fr the guest certificate and the extensio...I think that is acceptable....Will give you more time to think..

I have a RCI week expiring 11/30/2008 that I can not see a way to use. We have reservations for everything we need for winter season. The most remote chance would be if a friend wanted to use it to visit us in Mexico and we got a GC.

I let a week expire last 12/31/2007. This is why I am trying to be careful on where I deposit weeks.

CMB donating it is a great option is you can not use it or want to extend. I think it would be tax deductable. Maybe someone on here would be able to answer this question.

Do you not have any time in the next 6 months because it costs $99 to extend it. Even if you did a 4-5 day trip.

Could you not trade now for something later next year depending on your two year window?

Generally, donating the use of a timeshare is not deductible:

Thanks everyone - at the last minute my DS and DIL changed their mind and decided they could use a long weekend (labor day) at Disney with another couple, so I was lucky enough to get them an exchange into a property that I think they will enjoy. I have another week coming up end of Oct though so I may have the same problem with that one and can use your suggestions.

I think it's time to sell a few weeks - we bought these with the intention of using them in retirement and although we're both eligible to retire, we are still working and can't seem to pull the plug so we have more weeks than we can use now.

I am so glad you used that week.
Hope you find a use for the other one too.
