It doesn't hurt to call and talk to tpi - I had a week at 45days that they took and gave me credit right away - they may have someone waiting for your week.

Official word is:
If the property is a Trading Places International managed property we require 60 days in order for the week to be guaranteed but if it is a non managed property we require 70 days. The reason why we require additional days for non managed properties is because it can take longer to get a week verified by another timeshare management company.
Completely understandable.
I am waiting to hear when this change was put in effect.Lawren

Same ocean front unit, service every week, a short drive to any of the Kahana or Lahaina spots. Free parking. Or for another 294 ( 1260) points you could get a one bedroom. The studios are ocean front and on either the 4th or 9th floor, can't beat the views or the location. Some of the one bedrooms are ocean view, or partial ocean view. Still nice, just not the direct ocean front experience.
jmho,

We currently have:
626 points banked
345 points w/come in for 2009
345 points w/come in for 2010
345 points for 2011 could be borrowed.
So I will try to book it online 1/1/2009 for 1/1/2010 start date. Then figure out which if any portions I want to cancel because I might get a better place.
Also we can bank 2009 Pono Kai thru BlueGreen to use the first half of 2010 back to back with 2010.
If we take the Star Princess 23 Sep 09 from SFO-Sydney it stops at Maui (Lahaina), Hawaii and Hilo, Hawaii. I am not sure how far Lahaina is from Valley Isle but if we can visit it, then it will make us feel better to keep the reservation.
If we do, then what I am mostly looking for is
23 Oct 09 - Sydney
Tahiti/Bora Bora/Moorea RCI Resort #0782
maybe Phuket, Thailand
etc
up until 12/31/2009
Thanks again. My Website Link Oked by BF

We do at times make exceptions for owners depositing under the required lead time for a guaranteed week depending on if we have a request in for the dates that are being deposited.Lawren

I probably should have posted the thread below in Exchange forum not the Hawaii forum.
I think the 23 Oct -31 Dec 2009 exchanges will require more savvy then the Hawaii. Except that I would like to get Hawaii resorts that are nicer than Pono Kai with huge swimming pools like the Marriott in Kauai.
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...il-2010-a.html
Hawaii/American Samoa/Guam are nice because we can get our USPS 'snow bird' mail forward since it is US. Family can call us with their unlimited nationwide long distance calling plans. Our US cell phones work etc. Hawaii is convenient for medical care. My husband has Macular Degeneration and is starting to get shots in his eyes every 4-6 weeks. Choosing an island in Hawaii to establish a relationship for medical care in 2009/2010 and future visits probably every other year is important. My Website Link Oked by BF

Since I started this thread:
1) DAE deposit: Vacation Internationale Torres Mazatlan week with VI because I would have lost the points if I didn't use them by 12/31/08.
2) DAE deposit: my 2009 Suite at Polo Towers week even though I still have 5 nights from the 2007 use year that will expire 12/31/08. PT will only allow an owner's use week to be deposited to an exchange companay even though reservations can be made based on availability starting 59 days from use.
The reason I deposited PT 2009 to DAE is that it qualified for the "PrimeTime" deposit allowing me to redeem a week for $1.
If I understand correctly, the $1 fees require exchangers to pay $20 for cancellation protection on the unit they want.
However, I was told deposits are used in sequence. So even though I have 5 more Playa Maria in Mazaltan weeks I could deposit, it seems like I am better off continuing to deposit PrimeTime weeks. DAE considers Hawaii and Sedona Primetime so I can make reservations with Vacation Internationale for either of those places assuming their promotion is still in effect. If I deposited PM weeks now, then my first exchange from DAE costs the regular exchange fee, next will be $21, and the next would be the regular fee if I deposit PM. So it only makes sense to only deposit Primetime while this promotion lasts. Unless DAE creates two accounts for us, one in my husband's name and one in mine. Then we can deposit both.
DAE's three year expiration is a huge advantage while I try to bank accumulated inventories. Do any other exchange companies allow three years to use? I might end up redeeming deposits next October from one company getting stuff as far in the future as possible and banking those with DAE too.
3) Depositing week 52 for Playa Maria with Trading Places will provide an additional 'insta exchange' for a last minute reservation.
This still leaves 4 weeks Playa Maria to figure out where to bank. The reservations are November & December. My Website Link Oked by BF

my HTSE story
I exchanged with them in Jan 2007 for one week in Kauai, and I was so happy with the service I booked five consecutive weeks with them for this coming November - December. I realize that this time of year is not as busy as Jan - March but I made my deposits and exchanges very early and all went smoothly. With a little more luck I won't even have to move for the entire 5 weeks (fingers crossed...)

I just looked at their membership fees required to deposit. Even though I probably wouldn't exchange until 2010, I would need to pay the 3 year membership fee to deposit now. Then my deposits will expire in about 2 years.
I am likely to use a lot of Vacation Internationale points for Valley Isle in Maui although I suspect nicer resorts might be nearby. I just checked Untitled Document and only saw one exchange op for Maui, most seemed to be Kauai.
The lower exchange fee for HTSE is enticing though at $89 a week. I saw a Tahiti resort I'd want but it was the wrong week.My Website Link Oked by BF
