  • Upgrade to bigger units

    hELLO!

Did anybody upgrade to larger units - from 1 to 2 bedrooms, for example.
I have a 2 bedrooms unit in Italy and exchanged for a 1 bedroom unit in Uk, Hever and wish to upgrade to larger one.
    Any experience to share???

    Thank you!!

The attitude to exchanging into a larger unit varies between exchange companies. DAE for example simply does a unit swap irrespective of the size. So if you own a 1 bed and see an available 2 bed you can take it.
RCI used to have a policy where if your own unit had a capacity of 4 you could only put 4 in the unit you exchanged into, even if it had higher capacity. Before anybody asks, I don't have the faintest idea how they policed that policy, and it sounds as ridiculous now as when I first read it.

Once you accept an exchange into a particular unit, typically that is the size unit you get----the resort will not put you into a larger one when you arrive. It can happen, but I think it is the exception rather than the rule.

Could not have said it better, I will add that if the unit is available at check in and your real nice to the person checking you in there might be a chance that they upgrade you. If you give them a nice tip that might help.
