  • What is your Disney area TS pick?

II person here that can't grab DVC anymore. Heck, didn't both me TOO much because I think we can start to explore the rest of the world. Well DH is a Disney addict and still wants to go for his week in November and is even willing to TRY and stay off site.
So - what is your top pick for an II affiliated TS in the Disney area. Need to start the research somewhere and there are alot of Orlando TS to sort through!!!

My two non DVC favorites are Marriott's Cypress Harbour & Marriott's Grande Vista. When Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve starts showing up, I'd like to give that resort a try.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

My favorite is Marriott's Cypress Harbour when it's grownups on the trip and Marriott's Horizons when we have small kids with us because of the great themed pools/slides.

We also enjoy Sheraton Vistana Villages, too.

Of course, when I stay on my DVC Disney points, I like Villlas at Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club Villas, and Saratoga Springs.

Mystic Dunes is II exclusively, to they get quite a few deposits. Nice resort.

Sheraton Vistana is dual-affiliated, but another good choice if you can get it.

Another vote for Marriott Cypress Harbour. We had a large group, ages 3 to 70 last June and everyone loved it.

Grand Vista - very upscale, golf, large property for bike riding, tennis....nice pool areas.

Cypress Harbor.....nice older property, mature landscaping. Set up of second bedroom is not so good - very small, when sofa bed is open u can barely walk in the room - a consideration if u are going to be at full capacity - not an issue for only 4 people.

I have also stayed at Royal Palms and if you are a person who likes the amenities of a hotel along with a TS, you would like this property. Small second bedroom that sleeps 3 - a queen or double bed with a single twin bed so a sleep 7 instead of 8. Also on this property is Sabal Palms sleep 6 and Imperial Palm 3BR sleep 10. There is also an indoor pool on this property which is a plus for winter vacations and kids. Choice of several nice restaurants - ad right on the road that leads into WDW.

I haven't stayed at a Marriott in Orlando since we are in RCI. I hear they are wonderful. I like Vistana Resort, though, because it is so close to the parks...it's literally a five minute drive to the Magic Kingdom! We've stayed there twice and I liked the location better than HGVC and way better than Orange Lake, which are the only other places we have stayed.

Thanks all - I need to narrow it down somehow so I think I will stick to Marriots since that system seems to be desired by alot of people. I have checked out availablity and I can see plenty of time periods for Nov and Dec at all resorts.

I have checked out all locations on Marriots site and they all look fine. Possibly someone can give a recommondation based on what I would like to see in this TS......

                1. Ease in getting to/from Disney. It looks like they are all fairly local. Do they have a site on the strip right outside Downtown Disney?

                2. Indoor pool is a big plus. Our last Nov trip all my daughter wanted to do was go in the pool but it was only 55 degrees outside!!!

                3. Large gym - my husband likes to lift weights and a typical hotel style excerise room with a few cardio and a handful of free weights doesn't cut it for him.

                4. Kids activity room - with stuff like crafts, painting, etc.

                5. A couple good on-site restaurants. Just because there is a kitchen doesn't mean I have to use it!!!!

The size of the 2nd bedroom isn't much of a concern.....we probably would not use it.

                Thanks in advance to all!

Sounds like the Palm Marriotts might be a good choice if you want hotel amenities, close to Downtown Disney, and an indoor pool.

We're trying out Marriott's Imperial Palms (3 bedroom) here in about 4 weeks - I'll be sure to post when we get back! Here is a link to some pictures of Marriott's Imperial Palms:

I've heard that Sabal Palms is very close to the Orlando World Center.

Hummm.....now I am thinking about transporation. I stayed at Double Tree Suites a LONG time ago and they had their own transporation to/from the parks. Any TS offer this?

No, you do not want this. You want your own car.

Many have a shuttle, but it's usually scheduled only a few times each day, and shared between several resorts and maybe more than one park.

I'd say any of the Marriott's would be my pick in II. I would pick Cypress Harbour, Grande Vista, then Horizon's.
