        exactly.

There are some people who feel they are worth it though.

I guess that would depend. If your timeshare is a hotel unit with no facilities to cook, then AI works....or....if there is lack of other places to eat....AI works...or.....if you go to a place and the only restaurants that are there do not have any prices listed because everyone usually gets AI...it works and lastly...if you drink more alcohol than most people imbibe in a month...it works.

It doesn't work when there are lots of other options. Punta Cana is a place where I do not feel there are lots of options..yet I go there every year..

I own a Timeshare at an All Inclusive resort in Mexico and got what I feel is an excellent package to buy in to it, including free A.I's + 280,000 RCI points per year. From what I've seen though, I wouldn't use my own RCI points to book into an All Inclusive resort, by the time you pay the A.I you can get there just as cheaply by Expedia, on a package deal.
I also have the same opinion about cruises, unless someone can enlighten me as to the savings?

Trade works the same as any other trade and each resort has an all inclusive fee that is paid at the resort when you check in. Some are totally not worth it since you can get the same or better deal by purchasing the all inclusive package with a travel agent at a better rate. Many of the Mexico timeshares work that way and I don't understand why anyone would trade their week to pay more than what you would pay without trading your week.

Having said that I have found some AI rates to be well worth it and have traded to get them and had a great time at a great price.

                    1) Sandals Jamaica ( it was Beaches Grand Sport when we went). Paid the usual RCI fee for trading and they charged us $750 for two as the all inclusive fee which included two round trip transfers from airport in Montego bay which would have cost us at least $100 so $650 for two was a bargain since it included all restaurants at all 3 Ocho Rios properties and unlimited use of Spa which we used every day before going to dinner ( no messages but all whirlpool baths, Swedish showers, Sauna and steam rooms included.) All non motorized water-sports and shows every night at any of the 3 resorts.

                    2) Melia paradisus Punta Cana. Same deal for trade as above and optional $50 per day per person which we started on first full day so we were only charged for six days. Great deal as we went with another couple who paid a package deal through travel agent. After adding our maintenance fee and airline tickets, exchange fee and all inclusive fee we saved over $1,000 compared to our friends. Yes I didn't count purchase price on week we traded but it was a resale that we owed nothing on and paid next to nothing for and our current cost is zero after using this week for seven years and just recently got rid of. All inclusive in Punta Cana is a must and this five star resort included everything including snorkeling trips, horseback riding, banana boat rides, five gourmet restaurants, top shelf liquor and nightly entertainment. Well worth the exchange.

                    3) Trade Winds Cruise Club- My wife didn't go so I had my own cabin and all inclusive fee is per person and there was no single supplement so I just paid half the regular AI rate which I think was around $700-$800 for 1 person for an experience that would have cost much more if I were trying to pay for a 7 night catamaran cruise by myself. Price was a little high for 2 including maintenance and fee for trading. Used the same cheap week as Punta Cana and price just for me could not be beat for a once in a lifetime experience. Cabin was too cramped for two IMHO so I doubt that I would do this again but glad I had this fabulous experience.

We are definitely looking to do Punta Cana again and would also consider Sandal's but would prefer trying Negril next time rather than Ocho Rios so if they ever get a really nice timeshare in Negril with a decent AI fee I would definitely do it.

As others have said in most areas where they have great restaurants as well as a safe area such as Cancun, PV or Cabo in Mexico or Aruba as an example in the Caribbean I would never do an all inclusive but it's great for Punta Cana or Jamaica and probably some other places as long as the price makes sense.

                    Just my humble opinion!!!!!

There are some people that do not want to cook while on vacation and AI works really well for that scenario.

I'm more interested in saving money so would not do an AI. We would never eat and drink enuf to 'get our money's worth' and it would not be good for my waistline to try!

The AI cost varies quite a bit, but I've never seen a price I would pay.

Many individuals to not do enough research regarding the food at a1 resorts. Usually you get what you pay for. Its good idea to review travel reviews and contact people who have been there before taking the a1.

Many resorts limit the seafood and pile on the meat.

I usually introduce myself to the batender and find out his days off. I slip him a twnty to ensure Im getting quality booze and liquor.

Excellent point - I would hate to pay for an AI and find greasy diner chow.

Was not good for our waist lines but we recently stayed at Casa velas in Puerto Vallarta, which is a hefty AI fee, and it was so well worth it. We added up our consumption, just for the fun of it and each and every day we were well over what we paid. I am not a big eater per say, I drink a lot of bottled water and soda though, and only top notch alcohol ie: tequila...champagen, wine, etc. We were pampered and the food was the best as were the drinks and service. We have been to PV too many times to count so for us an AI is great, no thinking, no budgeting, and well it is not cheap to eat out in style in PV and living in Mexico I do not care to do a taco stand LOL. So for some AI's it is worth it. I do a lot of research and expect what I pay for in AI. We also do not hesitate to go off the resort and eat while on AI, if the desire hits.

I would check out that Temptations resort, as sounds like you got a good deal, I have heard of them, but unfortunately I am not as fond of Cancun side of Mexico as pacific Coast, so will pass.....maybe a visit some day once again but not now. Thanks for sharing the info though.

Tell us what is on the menu. The A1 there is one of the most expensive around. Im still not convinced.
