Good morning. I have a last call at Golden Strand with RCI and want to see if RCI will upgrade me to a 1 or 2 bedroom, I currently have a studio. Has anyone done this before? I asked the front desk but they said that I had to call RCI and do it thru them. I checked in on Saturday already so I am currently at the resort. Any suggestions on what I should say when I call RCI. How much should I expect the upgrade to cost? Thanks for any input, I know it's early. Still drinking my coffee.

The time to do that would have been Saturday. RCI has a special desk that will let you book very short notice IF they have a unit. We would not be able to see anything on line because you are blocked from seeing anything less than 3 days before check-in. That doesn't mean the units aren't available.
I would expect RCI would charge whatever the going rate is for LC the larger unit for the week. They wouldn't just out of the kindness of their flinty little heart charge you the difference between the studio and the larger unit.Lawren

Well I know RCI is not the greatest with member services but I'd think they'd do something nice for a member instead of leaving inventory vacant but then they might see their kindness on the forums and not want to do it again. So I guess I understand why they wouldn't want to be "nice" and upgrade me for the difference. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try, so I'll call anyway at 9 to see what I get. Thanks.

Let us know what happens. I've had RCI do me a kindness or two over the last 15 or so years but not often.
BTW there is a studio at Estero for check-in May 30 7.5k points this morning.Lawren

Well Lawren you were right, RCI said their hands were tied because I checked in already. They told me that if I had called on Saturday night they could have done something for me but because I physically checked in then they could not search past inventory. Sounds silly because DAE live seems to be able to keep up current and slightly expired inventory ie. you can book something on a Tuesday with a check in date of Sunday for example. Why can't RCI seem to do this too. It seems that they'd rent alot more rooms that way than leaving things vacant. But lesson to self, don't listen to the front desk help, call before checking in next time. One day I'll figure it out.

The agent made it sound like it could have been done on Saturday but would not tell me what the fee would have been. So next time.........I'm calling at noon on check-in to see what's available. Lesson learned. Still I'm pleased to get a week for $199 at such a nice resort so I'll just have to suffer thru it and try to enjoy myself anyway. (Just kidding).
