  • Depositing with II

I am new Timeshareowner. We have purchased Weeks 17 & 18 first 2 weeks of May in Tortola (BVI) Long Bay Beach. I am nervous about depositing with II only because I dont know if I will get something equal like another caribbean destination or Europe, Greece etc. I have been fortunate with my Arizona timeshare which I traded into Tortola (during superbowl week Patriots lost) and bought 2 weeks there. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! II has a "request first" feature, where you retain use of your own timeshare if II is unable to make the exchange you want. Also, II has the function of doing online searches without depositing your week. Once your weeks are listed online with II, hit "exchange" , put in your timeframe and desired locations or "all destinations", and see what shows up. You do not have to deposit to do this online search.

Hi luvcaribbean, and welcome to TS4M's

II is all about supply and demand, when it comes to trading power.....May isn't as strong in trading power as winter months, but the fact that your resort is the only resort in II on Tortola, will help you.

Depending on when you want to travel, will also play a role in your successful exchanges.

For instance.....If you'd like to travel in the month of May, you should have no problems getting another Caribbean location, or Europe. If you're looking to travel to the Caribbean during the winter months, or Europe during the summer months, it will be more difficult.

I'm not sure if anyone else here also owns in Tortola, but if so, hearing their personal experiences would be very helpful.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I don't think II has much of a selection in Greece, but if you ever want to do a direct exchange I own on Crete at Village Holiday Club.

Thanks you so much for your reply with great info. We like going to the caribbean during that time. We live in Arizona so winter months do not matter to us and most importantly the islands are much quieter in May we love it!!! We have been to Tortola 3 times we want to explore other places.

You must join II and add your week to the account. You simply hit the exchange tab and follow the instructions to search. Click search "all destinations", enter the dates of travel, and then hit "enter".

You may not be able to see any gold or premier resorts when searching more than a few months out, since your resort is not premier either. Not to worry however. My Christie Lodge resort cannot see them either, but the trades still come through more times than not.

Hi, I've just puchased an annual 3 bedroom lockoff at Celebrity Resorts Orlando - Spas for week 24 (i.e. June 11-18 for 2010). I've never ever owned a timeshare before so this is my first ever experience with trading, etc.

The resort's location attraction is Disney, and it's the second week in June, so basically 1-3 weeks after school lets out. Therefore I purchased this week for our family based on the idea that we may be able to have some good trading power with it. (True??)

Having said that, I'm wondering if someone could give me an idea of the kind of trading power I'll have with this one. It'll be another 2 months or so before we receive the deed/title and can begin trading, so I can't go onto Interval's website and do the searches as described here yet.

I'd like to trade it next year for a 3 bedroom in Breckenridge (anywhere in December 2010 - February 2011) and am wondering if someone could guess at the likelihood of a trade like that happening? I'd like just a pretty good idea of what my chances are.

Also, everything I've found about this resort seems to be pretty decent. Could you esperienced folk out there tell me wether or not I've made a decent buy?

Looking forward to your reply ...

                    Hi Amanda, Welcome to TS4Ms.....

Here is the travel demand for Orlando from the II website

The fact that u own and will be trading a 3BR unit is very good - because there are not that many 3BRs in II.
On the other hand, if u REALLY need a 3BR in a ski location - this could be VERY difficult as there aren't many.
Most people deposit and exchange at the one year mark - so u might be late for this year,,,,but these are strange times and people are not traveling, so there is a possibility u could get something especially in December.

I would say that a ski week trade is one of the most difficult and Orlando has MANY timeshares, thus diluting the trade power of your unit.
If u deposited the entire 3BR and would take a 2BR in exchange, you would have a better chance.
