  • RCI bonus weeks

Hi, my name is Albert and I a fairly new to owning a timeshare. I am also new to this site, so I don't know if this is the right place to post a question, but here it goes. I have a week with my resort and I have a bonus week with RCI. I was recently contacted by "Time Share Property Management". They asked me if I wanted to rent out my weeks. I am trying to find out if this is a legit company. As with most things it sounds too good to be true. Is it allowable to have them rent my RCI bonus week? Any information would be helpful. Thanks for your help.

    Run, scam,

This and many companies call and promise the impossible, you only need to give us$$$$ and we can get you BIG BUCKS,
they are what we call upfront fee companies, please save your self some money and aggravation, don't fail prey. I know it sounds good, too good, that is because it isn't real.
1st, nobody including you can rent any week you get from RCI, period, not a trade week, a banked week, bonus week, extra vacation week, none, nada, zip, so that is one of many lies that have tried to use to part you from your money.

    fwiw,

    Greg

As Greg said, you can not rent out RCI week see their disclaimer (RCI - the largest timeshare vacation exchange network in the world) . Use week one as example, at page 15 (or W14) item h.

btw, the RCI bonus weeks have recently been drastically devalued (not that they were worth much in the first place).

          Thanks

Thanks for the good information. I thought it sounded like a scam! One other question. Can I give away that bonus week to someone? If so, how hard is the process? Thanks again.

We received 3 RCI bonus weeks when we purchased our timeshare at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay. Is it even worth joiing RCI to use them? It sounds like we should just stick with our home resort and the other PBs.

                Welcome to the forums.

I think you can use an RCI bonus week to give someone, but it would be thru buying them a guest certificate.

It is a shame to have ownership in a resort which you never get to use. The ways to use the weeks are to trade for exchange, or to rent the week you own (to at least cover your Maint. Fee), or gift it to someone who would like a vacation....when you bank a week, you have one year before and 2 years after to use it.

We have a timeshare classified area, and many here also use ebay to sell or rent their timeshares.

Some folks, in order to just get out from under the ownership, offer them in our freebies area.

Be sure to read as much as you can, and remember our motto: NEVER pay any company upfront fees.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

I looked in the Disclosure Guide and did not see the limitation on renting out an RCI week, except the limitation if it was for commercial purposes. Could this be because I didn't even find item h on page 15 (or W14)?
