Elena at SFX called me this afternoon with confirmations for 2 requests I made. The first exchange is for Shell Vacations Club Kona Coast on the big island in Hawaii for April 10-17, 2010. The second exchange is for the new HGVC in Manhattan, New York City for August 22-29, 2010. I requested these specific resorts.

I don't know John...after reading these boards for so many years, sometimes I think you're the only one getting successful SFX exchanges!

Originally posted by Hoc View PostActually, I've gotten quite a few successful SFX exchanges myself. Though nothing for Marriott Marbella next summer yet. . . .
Further adding to all these difficulty factors... Marriott Owners from all Marriott resorts (I don't know how many thousands of members they have these days) have priority over you and all non-Marriott timeshare owners for first pick at their best resorts in the best locations and best times. Non-Marriott Owners have the least priority.
It's not impossible, but... what do you think the odds are?
Our goal is to send you and your family on a great vacation, and want this to work really well for you. However, such a restrictive request is almost like setting yourself up to fail, and goes against all the basic principles of the ABC's of exchanging. We strongly suggest being open to accepting "alternative" high quality resorts, and this will give you "reasonable" odds for a successful exchange. Please let me know by PM if you are willing to work with us, by taking the Marriott restriction only off your request.
Hope to hear from you and hope this helps...

It would be interesting to know of those who do complain, how realistic and properly placed was their request. These are the details that don't alway get disclosed in their posts.
Although every year with all exchange companies there are many people who do not receive their requested exchange (because the space was not available), there is still greater than a 90% exchange fulfillment rate (SFX, RCI and I.I.) as per the independent audits. These numbers may not represent everyone's first choice, but they do represent an exchange was fulfilled and accepted by the Member.
These are very high statistics by any standard. Unfortunately you rarely hear customers singing praises about these positive results, you only hear about the negatives, which is in minority proportions. And I guess this goes with every business in every profession.
We obviously want to make all our customers happy. We do our best to please as many customers as we can, however all exchange space is limited, and this is why the exchange business model is built on the customers ability to be flexible.
Thanks,
Mark @sfx

I've yet to use SFX but maybe I'll have to see what they offer.
What did you use for these exchanges?
I just recently used DAE and was pleased with them.
Nice to have options to the big two.

All you have to do is tout them like a shill or lobbyist for a dozen or so years and defend them on the internet even when they are dead wrong and they will get you great service.

You don't see me constantly posting how wonderful some exchange company is working for me. You have been doing it for years and anyone who has been around that long would be an idiot not to be suspicious. It is obvious that you have no idea what I do here, but I assure you that it is infinitely more than you contribute.

I, for one, disagree. Your posts are frequently insulting (and I have been personally singled out and insulted by you in a public post in the past) and your posts often provide little value -- like your first post in this thread. I honestly have no idea why you chose to make that post. Jealousy of John's trades perhaps? I really don't know.
If there was a way I could put you on my "ignore" list, I would. Then I wouldn't have to deal with this drivel. Unfortunately, the owners of this board have made it impossible to "ignore" a user with moderator status. That's their choice, I guess.
