  • Ever rent or sell to ITA?

I recently bought a timeshare. I got a phone call from International Timeshare Association if I wanted to rent or sell my timeshare. Sound like a good deal to have them rent out my property on my years I have it. It would be more money to bank and I could use a getaway for $500 or so. IS this a scam, or is this a good deal? Brand new into the timeshare arena so not sure if this is too good to be true deal or now. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely a scam- you will be able to confirm that if they ask for any kind of a fee.

Yes they were asking for a fee of $995. I thought that was strange, but i wanted to check with a few others here.

Is there ways to rent your property if you dont use for the year?

Timeshare industry itself is largely a scam. Look how they are sold and what is the difference of retail and secondary market prices. So it's not amazing that resale part of the industry is also a scam.

Knowing that, it's smart to make use of this system the way how it is, without being a sucker and buying retail.

Look how fast your name & all your personal information was sold by the resort where you purchased to these scammers.

We've been in Timeshares for 4 years now and taken a couple of knocks along the way. You will get great advice if you read this board and use it as a reference.
I'll start by saying anyone that phones you wanting to buy or rent out your timeshare is not worth dealing with (I can say that from experience). All require an upfront fee, in my case it was $199 to rent my timeshare out, I got one enquiry in a year. Using this forum's advice I went to Redweek.com and Myresortnetwork.com and paid a nominal $19.99 and had at least 30 enquiries and 2 successes during the same period.
You may think you've made a big mistake by getting into Timeshares, by reading the replies to your original question but let me tell you that we have had some tremendous vacations in the last 4 years and other than paying full price to get in to timeshares originally, I have no regrets.
Just enjoy the experience, don't attend anymore timeshare presentations when you go to different resorts, it's not worth a free sauna or a free show. Just enjoy the holiday.

              Update required...

              So guys...
Does anyone have anything good to say about ITA Timeshares?
I'm UK based - but receiving calls from ITA advising me that they can rent my unit for USD 3,100 per week...
              Too good to be true?
They want USD 995 from me...
              What should I do?
              Please advise...
              Many thanks
              Arnold

Tell them that you will not pay the fee upfront, but that they can deduct the $995 from $3100 rent they claim they can get for you. Then watch them squirm.

It's a scam, plain and simple.

                  Hi
I did just that - and they told me it was 'illegal', which quite amused me.

                  Since then, I've heard nothing!

                  Thanks for the advice...

                  Regards

                  Arnold

Arnold, they will not rent your TS for $3100. Trust me....I fell for that once before. The most powerful site for renting your timeshare is Redweek.com. TUG is also a good source. You shoudl pay no more than $50-$100 for listing your TS on a reputable site. $995 is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY to rent your TS. Don't fall for it.

                      How is it a scam?

I'm not entirely sure how its a scam. I am thinking of doing this as well. As the OP is doing I'm looking to see if they are legit or not. So far no one has been able to do more than just say they are a scam, no one has really been able to prove it.
My brother-in-law just got on with ITA about 2 months ago. He paid $1500 for the membership but that allowed him to sell it as well as rent. so far he has gotten 3 inquires about rentals. I just don't see how that is a scam. They are doing what they say. I live in Orlando, FL and I see a billboard every day on my way to work. That coupled with the internet and conventions has to produce some decent results. Much better than a listing company. It seems like we have all fallen for those at one point in time.
Also, the comment about them taking it out of the rental check. If they don't have a real estate brokers license, it really is illegal for them to take out a commission. I'm in school right now for my real estate license (in fl) and the rules are very, very strict regarding how to handle finances. Most of the time when you break a law in real estate you end up with heavy fines and up to a year in prison. If you look around on ITA's site it doesn't say they have a brokers license.
I'm not defending them. I'm just saying, it looks as though they are legitimate.

this is totally a scam!!!! Captainkyka obviously works for ITA, anyone can see that!! I've got 3 words for ITA: Class Action Lawsuit.

Just google "ITA timeshare scam" and look at all the people's responses to ITA

It was just a matter of time before we saw the typical first time poster who just happen to find this thread and just had to defend said company. Nice try Captain Shill.

                            I'm an employee?

Just because I am a first time poster means I work for them? I can sort of see the logic behind that but you also are jumping to conclusions. If I were one of them I would have told you how great it was. I don't know for certain. I do know my brother-in-law is happy so far. I can't speak for anyone else but there are always going to be people that are unhappy out there. Hell people even have bad experiences at Disney. And, if I were one of them, I'm sure I would be making a whole lot more than I do delivering pizza's. Unfortunately, I don't. I live in a one bedroom that I can barely afford. I have a daughter and fiance to provide for, so I would love to work for them. Thankfully, she has a nice job at a bank which really provides most of the income.
You don't stop to think that anyone could have come across this post. I simply wanted to know. I have never been on this site before which is why I was a first time poster. I don't think that's a crime. I was just simply stating what I had experienced. Just as everyone else does in a forum. I'm glad I can come here for advice and be so welcomed.
