The idea of this sounds great but they sure make it expensive.

I think I'll stick with the free boats at Bonita or try Oyster Pointe next time.

I wonder if the owners have to pay all these fees to use their week too?

That would really suck in addition to maintenance fees.

Good question. It could be a way to pass off expenses to, or to raise money from, non-owners.

      Maybe I'll em.

We did an exchange with this resort before they went crazy on these fees, and enjoyed it immensely. However the fees make it more cost effective to hop a flight to the UK and do a canalboat exchange instead. Those, I enjoyed even more, and with none of these stupid junk fees. While for me a flight to the UK is cheaper than to Fla, these fees would make me pass over the houseboat for the UK canalboat even if I were departing from NC.

There was a minor propane charge, and we used the grill, when we did the houseboat at Holly Bluff, and an ''instruction'' fee. Instruction on the canalboats was much more thorough and was free. Having owned a cabin cruiser for a number of years, I found the superficial ''instruction'' on the houseboat to be a joke, and cost $100 for about 20 minutes of almost nothing. The instructor did not even bring up that on a boat the reverse gear was effectively your brakes, something I already knew but a novice might not think about.

What a great idea. It costs me about $600 in off season to go to London from my hometown so I might do this in the future.

I did a Thames river cruise as a tourist one time in London and I can imagine the River cruising must pass some beautiful countryside.

I have seen the canal boats available over the years.

Of course, I see houseboats in season here, pulled up to the bank wherever they want to.

I don't see how this is good for the owners. If the exchange fees are too high then no one will want to do an exchange there. If RCI can't exchange their units then they won't be too eager to take their exchange.

Has RCI ever dropped a resort from their exchanges?

Yes, to the last question. One they dropped was the first one we owned.

RCI can always go into houseboat rentals, their specialty area.

                  Hi Me,

Members pay the same for everything but the $585 non-member surcharge which covers orientation, septic pump, and propane. They pay a different amount for those.

                  Thanks,

Did they say what the different amount was?
                    $10 less or something ridiculous?
Sounds like a boat version of Wastegate.
I wonder how many happy owners they have?

                        No thanks.

Thanks to this forum I now own 7 timeshares.

When I started on this forum I only owned 5 and I've
only been on here less than a year.

Just got an email yesterday with my closing papers for HGVC.

You guys have contaminated me with the TS bugs.

Members probably pay what it really costs. As I recall, the propane was about $20-30. A septic pump is not that expensive. Check with marinas who do it for the public. And the "orientation" was a joke. If the employee who did it was being paid $20 an hour in salary, then this cost less than $10 to the resort. This fee is a total ripoff of exchangers.

Thanks to this forum, and real life, we know we own too many.

Real thanks will be to the forum, or whatever, that comes up with a viable way to get rid of them.

I've got one that I might want to get rid of but the rest I can't see myself parting with any time soon and even the one I'd like to get rid of gets me decent trades every now and then when I don't use it so no complaints here.
