  • Help with selling my week

    Hey guys,
Great forum and almost too much info.
My wife and I purchased in Aruba several years ago and love it. We go there with our 3 children every other year and then somewhere else like Orlando the other years. It has worked out great.
We have always used our weeks so I never had to do this. We have an extra week to use before June of this year and will not be able to use it. We are going to Aruba in April.
How do I go about "selling" this week. There are several resorts to choose from. However, you have to complete travel within 60 days of today, therefore you only get a view of the availabilty from now until March 12th. Seems a little restrictive. Is this normal for extra weeks??
Again, my question is, what is the best way to sell this week. Ebay, forum, craigslist, etc.
    Thanks for your help.

First, you'll want to check to ensure you are allowed to rent the week to a third party. Many bonus weeks are restricted to owners use only. You don't want to spend money advertising to find a renter only to have your reservation cancelled or questioned.

If you can rent the week, you'll simply want to post a "for rent" ad on your pick of the online classified systems. There are many to choose from and the cost varies from free to potentially thousands..

    Some low cost sites include:
    -TimeshareForums
    -MyResortNetwork
    -Redweek
    -VacationTimeshareRentals
    -ClearTimeshare.com

I'm not personally a big fan of either eBay or craigslist- but many people say they are successful there.

You simply want to pick venues that you feel are both cost effective, and provide you with a fair amount of exposure.. Think about it from a consumer's point of view- How would you search for a vacation week?

The "best" site will be the one that works for you..
    my travel website: Vacation-Times.org.

What do you mean by "there are several resorts to choose from?" Are you talking about through an exchange company such as Interval International or RCI? If yes, those are considered "exchanges," and you would be violating the terms of your exchange company membership by renting an exchange. If you have a week that you own outright at your resort that you can't use, that is rentable.

If you are talking about a "points" system, there are different rules for different plans. RCI Points reservations may not be rented, either.

        Thanks for the help.
I checked with Interval today, and this is a flex week that I can, for a fee of about $40.00 rent.
There are several destinations, both here and abroad, so hopefully one of those websites will work.
Again, thanks for all your help.
