There is a web site (tho minimal) that was removed. A bit much to go through for one post---at least for relatively normal people.

      Humored Enough

      Hey Folks,

We have been humored enough by the OP. He is a one times fishing for suckers. He has only posted once and it was to scam. Let's not give him any more of our precious time and leave him a big empty pocketball from this thread.

      Case Closed.

But I still would like an answer to my question. See below:

And then I responded, with an honest question, since I'm very new to timesharing:

Isn't this a prime week, in a seasonal resort? Skiing conditions then should be great, and spending Christmas in Stowe, which is a wonderful area, seems so nice.

We paid $1 on Ebay. But, I am also interested in selling it for "top dollar" too!
I would really like to know if my timeshare is a prime week in a seasonal resort. I thought it was! But I only paid $1 on Ebay. But, given a chance, I'd "flip" it and sell it for top dollar.

My take is that if something really had a strong demand, the owner would not have had to pay someone $3500 to take it off their hands so that you could buy it for $1 on eBay, plus (likely) pay too much to the reseller's affiliated closing company.

My question would be why the industry, all of the industry, including ARDA, just ignores this situation, and pretends it's not the case, spending millions on studies to prove it's not the case.

How do you know that the previous owners paid "someone $3500 to take it off their hands so that (I) could buy it for $1 on eBay"?

Also, on the "think outside the box" thread, someone said that week 52 is "no. 1 with a bullet", and week 51 is close behind. My week 51 will include Christmas many, many times ahead.

            Now I'm really confused.

If you could move your resort to Orlando, it would be a top week. But, then, the problem would be that it is in Orlando.

I know about post card companies. Are you just GUESSING then, that the previous owner used one, and paid $3500 to get rid of it? Did you just make up the number $3500? In the post that I'm referring to, you don't appear to be guessing-you state it as if it's a FACT. So, you really don't know, right?

Let me see if I can interpret this: Week 51 is a popular week, and lots of people want to go to Orlando then. But, I guess you don't like Orlando.

I'm not looking to go to an amusement park during Christmas. I want to go skiing! I want to take a sleigh ride! Try ice-skating! Go downhill skiing! Go cross-country skiing, then have a mug of hot cocoa by a bonfire! Yes, I want to buy maple syrup and cheese! Go to Ben and Jerry's-my future son-in-law works there! Free ice cream! Take a day trip to Montreal! Go skiing again!! Make a snowman!! Shop in the thousands of cute little country shops all across Vermont! SKI!!

Why on earth are there all those condos, timeshares and huge McMansions built all around ski resorts, if all the owners are wishing they were in Orlando?? Did everyone who bought a ski week at a ski resort get ripped off? I thought anyone who had a popular week during ski season would be happy with it-surely I'm not the only owner of a ski week at a ski resort here?? Everyone who owns at places like Aspen, Vail, etc., all those movie stars--they all wish they had a place at Orlando instead????

Just because you don't like snow, or winter, and obviously don't want to go skiing doesn't mean nobody else would want to. I'm not convinced that my week sucks. I think that Christmas week at a world-famous ski resort is A PRIME WEEK.

If you are planning on using your week 51 for your own family's enjoyment, then you got a great deal. Generally, in terms of supply/demand, I would bet that week 52 would be a more "prime" week as the entire week usually falls over a school break. In a year when your checkout is on Christmas Day, schools will likely be in session for most of the week prior, so it wouldn't be in as high demand as week 52. Looking ahead, it seems like you will start getting more "vacation" days in your week in 2012. If the maintenance fees are affordable and you will use your week, there is no downside for you. But I wouldn't plan on turning a big profit if you decide to sell, that's never a good reason to buy a timeshare (if you aren't in the business).

Thank you, Glitter, for your comments. We are planning on using it for our own enjoyment. The fees are affordable, and we will use it. If for some reason we can't go, I have adult daughters in the area who will. I am not planning on "turning a big profit".

I am trying to understand how JLB is so sure that my purchase is a bad one, just because a.) I got it from Ebay for $1, therefore it must be bad, and 2.) someone might have paid someone else $3500 just to get rid of it, therefore it must be bad, and 3.) it's not in Orlando and therefore, it must be bad??

Simple, a non prime week in a seasonal resort is NOT good. How much competition did you have in the auction? Since the area has so many non prime weeks, and those owners bail, your MFs will go up and up.

The only value to timeshare ownership is found in the actual usage.. If you will consistently use the week you purchased- it's a great acquisition for you!

I will pay cash and if I like what I see we can wrap up a deal pretty quickly, let me know your thoughts.

Awesome! If I can unload what I have for Top Dollar, that would ease the burden of increasing maint fees and special assessments. Definitely send me a pm so I can sell my ts to you!

I totally hear what you are saying and would always rather be anywhere BUT Orlando. That works out well for me because so many DO want to go to Orlando.

To me, skiing at Christmas is of way more value than anything concerning The Mouse. But, it might not be THE highest value location for that time overall.

Weeks 51 and 52 are usually pretty good weeks--at least where skiing or beaching are involved.
