Newbie questions about RCI and II

I always have, never with a problem, even back when I had to endure the this is an exception dissertaion.

Come to think of it, we all have experienced a little of that since 5/30.

& in the unlikely chance that you don't get it back, oh well, worse things have happened.

Well I don't have all my details about my timeshare being i'm at work but alot of your responses have been helpful. When I purchased it from the resort they must have already deposited it into RCI because when I got my RCI info I already had approx ~38000 points with them (just a studio). The response earlier about II seems to be accurate because it is a floating week so until I have a reservation to deposit with them they won't let me look around. Being my points are already in RCI I was going to just go with them. Like I was saying about looking at Myrtle I'm seeing one resort available in Aug for a 6 night stay. I was just wonder if I should expect to see more opening up closer to the season or is the opposite true? This all can be a bit overwhelming.. lol Maybe I'll give RCI another call and hope to get someone more helpful than the last person I spoke with!! Back to work....lol

The Rules say "deposits are final". We all know that The Rules are often bent to the breaking point, and for all I know this Rule may well never be enforced. But, The Rules are still The Rules, and it is important to know what they are in the event that someone decides to finally enforce one.

The Rules are still The Rules, and it is important to know what they are in the event that someone decides to finally enforce one.

You say that like there is some level of reliability in dealing with RCI. It's about the same as dealing with the USACE.

What is today, is today, and that is all you can count on.

I am not the RCI specialist here but I would say things won't get better as time approaches.
On the other hand, if u don't have airfare to consider, you could wait until 45 days before check-in and hope to grab something with only 9,000 points.

But you have to be VERY flexible for this to work as u r hoping someone will cancel at the last minute..

At this point, six months out for a prime week, it will not get better.

However, stuff happens in what is known as the 14-day Window (14 days before each check-in date), and stuff magically appears . . . Voila.

Also, with RCI, stuff happened 5/30/09, that none of us seem to have a grasp on yet, other than the sense that a lot of the better stuff became harder to get, or just disappeared.

No one seems to be saying they can see more of it, and almost everyone is saying they are seeing less.

No one has come forward with any explanations.

I use RCI Weeks, not points, but I would say if it looks good, grab it. Sometimes I have to grab something that's two years away! Very occasionally you might see something better right at the last minute, that would not be the usual case.

I forgot to say you can put the "something good" on hold for 24 hours while you think it over. You just have to give RCI the money to hold it. If you change your mind, you can release the exchange tomorrow and request your money back.
