  • I got a call

They first asked me if I was enjoying my Sol Meila resorts, I said yes and that I was going in the Summer, They then asked if I wanted to sell it. I said no cause my term is ending this year and also said that you should know this if you are from Sol Meila, I then asked are you from Sol Meila and she said No I am from Global Resorts. I hung up but I now wish I would have strung her along.

I get calls from them also and they always mention resorts that I own - how do they get that information?

I always thought they get the information from the recorded deeds.

Often it's lists that are created and sold by rogue employees of resorts, exchange companies, and resale groups.. They often sell the same lists several times, which is why all of a sudden you can start getting several calls a week from two or three different groups. I can't tell you how many times I've been offered "lists"... I laugh each time as I'm promised a "clean list that has never been worked before".. When I tell them I'm not interested, they simply can't believe it.. One recent guy actually called back three times after I hung up on him, simply because he was convinced I'd be interested if the price was low enough..

I was once even told by an extremely inebriated fellow how he created a "buyer" list which he sold. He simply put out a collection box in a few chinese take out joints which offered a chance to win a free vacation. Individuals would drop in business cards or fill out the little post it pads with their name, address, phone, email, etc.. He then entered all the names on a list, and then sold them..

Thankfully, the Do Not Call registries have slowed this a bit.. Of course, now the legitimate companies that you might actually want to call you are the only ones that don't buy the list!

Just another example of the sales weasel influence in the industry..

We are on the National and State No Call Lists.

When they (all of em) call, I do string them along. Ask em where they're calling from, what phone number, etc.

They always lie if they answer at all.

Then I *69. If I get a phone number, if they did not block it, I google it.

It is always, always, a problem number, normally a cell phone.

Then I report it to both No Call lists.

Then, some time later I get an email from the No Call folks saying they have agreed to stop calling folks and thanking me for my help.

We don't get as many calls as we use to.
