I just called. No one was available in the right department to talk to so they will be calling me back. Probably gonna end up with the salesman whom we dealt with, which stinks. I was hoping to avoid that. Oh well.
Sue, just noticed you are in Burlington. Small world - i'm in Peabody. Do you have any local favorite resorts that you like? I've been reading up on the InnSeason Resorts which look promising, although according to they're point chart, appear to be extremely expensive. At least compared to what the expensive RCI resorts looked like.
The instructions are pretty vague in the material I received, but I assume all I need is to write up a letter wishing to cancel, sign it, then mail it with all the paperwork/book included? I'll be sure to certify it and include the return receipt. They do request that we call in addition to mailing the letter. Is this standard?
It doesn't sound like you have to call before mailing in the rescission - so mail first, and talk second. Since you've already left them a message, if you go to the PO now and take care of mailing, there's nothing they can say to "make" you change your mind. Then the content of the phone call can be when/how you will see your deposit back.
We did just that, in that very sequence, in 1997. They still tried very hard to persuade us to change our minds, but the rescission was a done deal.
Yea, fortunately there's a post office in my building so I was able to get it in todays mail, certified with return receipt. They should have it in a couple days. I've spent all morning and most of afternoon browsing this forum and ebay. Not good... last thing I need is another hobby to take away from getting work done.

My DD went to Endicott College - Go Gulls!
With your location, you really should consider a resale on Cape Cod weeks 25 to 34 ONLY - this is the time of highest demand if you are going to trade some years and use some years and some day there might be little soupers and it is nice to own during school vacation.
Start looking on ebay for "timeshare Cape Cod" and see what u see.
Personally, I would avoid RCI as a beginner (and an oldie) - it is really nice to own someplace u would like to actually go as u can NEVER count on getting a trade.

Good thing you've already mailed it back. I agree with everyone, it's way overpriced.
Also, when they call you back, whatever they tell you, don't agree to "reconsider", "rethink", etc. Just tell them that you've done a little more research and have exercised your right to change your mind, which you did. Just tell them "NO".

I will most definitely take a look. Thanks for the info. I agree that having a place of your own that is both enjoyable and easily trad-able is the way to go. I love NH in both the summer and winter. Can't beat the snowy mountains and I hope one day to start hiking and ATV riding. I also love to go camping, which is why the resort we just visited was so appealing. It offered all of these for what seemed like a cheap rate. School vacation is definitely a priority as my fiance is a grade school teacher therefore we are limited to when and where we can go. That was a big reason for wanting the points as we can take a couple days here and there on a long weekend and head up, instead of always planning for a full week.
Endicott is a nice school. I haven't attended personally but have done some work in a few of their buildings. The ocean views are beautiful.

Yea, i'll just keep repeating NO if needed. Fortunately it's an easy word to say. I'm surprised I haven't heard back yet. I won't be calling back if they don't return the call either. I did my part.
I haven't stayed in a TS in New England. We used to live in Maine so if we go there, it's just for a day trip. My husband can't stand a "relaxing" vacation. We have to "do" something different every day. So, most New England locations are not good places for us. We go into Boston about every other week when we're not on vacation.
But, you can get some outstanding deals for NH on ebay. Winter or summer. However, you can often rent for much less than maintenance fees, especially if you'd consider an off-season week.
