Look into Lakeside Terrace in Avon

Lakeside Terrace in right next to Sheraton Mountain Vista in Avon and we think it is a sleeper. The rooms are very nice, decorated in mountain lodge pole furniture. Room size is spacious for the 2 beds, about 1400 sq feet. Try Redweek and MyResort Network. I am sure you can get a ski week for less. Also the dues are less. We own a summer week here and it has been a great trader. Week 48 is really at the edge of ski season and you can often trade for that week easily on II at many ski destinations.

Actually, I did read all of Post #3, and that's the way I took it.

But it wasn't worth bickering over. There's other threads where we can go bicker.

Sometimes what we say can be taken ways other than we meant. I oughta know.

My reaction to what you said was that you did not fully appreciate St. James.

Look, this isn't an argument...it's just contradiction.

          Nice signature.

I saved in so I can use it to explain to people why I am like I am, and someone previous must also have been the same way.

Too bad it's not Week 51 or 52.
But, I thought week 51 or 52 were only good if it's in Orlando?

Both places since both are family holiday destinations. Ski destinations and Orlando are likely the two areas with the highest 51 and 52 peaks.

Let's not leave out anywhere warm and beachy. I would bet a week 52 in the Caribbean would outtrade Orlando, if the exchange companies were to differentiate. Without looking I'll bet the Marriotts in Aruba rent for more $ than the Orlando Marriotts for the same dates.

Maybe, maybe not. Different crowd. I don't really know cuz I'm not a Caribbean goer.

I was tempted to include Snowbird-type destinations, as that season has been gradually pushed back to Weeks 51 or 52, but I chose not to confuse it with the others, which are more popular family holiday destinations.

Being one of them, and knowing many of them, those seeking sunny destinations such as the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Keys, and S FL, are not the same folks seeking Orlando.

Snowbird season really peaks in late January and February. Most Snowbirders do not leave until after they spend Christmas with the family at home, opposite of those families who spend the Holidays at ski resorts or Orlando.

In other words, Orlando and ski resorts are busier because it is holiday time and families are free to go together. The other are popular because it is warm(er), not because they are family destinations.

I'm not talking about snowbird season, I'm talking family vaca. We are each colored by our own experience, but the Caribbean is more in demand up here than Orlando, and Orlando has a lot more inventory. I didn't mention other parts of Florida because weather is iffy for families seeking a week of beach during the school break. I know that families wanting Orlando won't necessarily look elsewhere, but I'm not sure they make Orlando outrank other vacation destinations for those weeks in terms of demand/supply, at least not week 52.

Well, I obviously grew up in the wrong family.

Maybe I'll google it and find the popular family Christmas destinations in the Caribbean.

Here, I found something to make us both feel smart. It supports my thoughts that February, March is most popular in the Caribbean, and your thought that school holidays are popular, although it doesn't mention Christmas, buit that could be implied.

February is high season in the Caribbean -- the third busiest month behind March and April -- so expect crowds and rates on the high end for hotels and flights. February school vacation brings lots of families down to the islands, so avoid school-vacation weeks if you're looking for a romantic getaway.

We used to go to Florida from Ohio when I was growing up, but we always went to Sanibel. I didn't visit the mouse until I was 21 or 22.

We've taken the kids to Orlando thrice, and the Caribbean twice. So we fit both molds...I will say that traveling during President's week isn't as bad as it is a little later in the season, because more people have spring vacation around Easter. I'm happy snorkeling or riding roller coasters, so I'm easy.

Christmas week will be really tough this year. Instead of two weeks to choose from there is only one really good vacation week. Christmas is on a Saturday. A lot people will not travel the week before or the week after, because they will not be getting time off those weeks.

                            Here's what I see for Orlando: 12/24: 7 12/25: 84 (Surprising)

                            The Caribbean: 12/24:10 12/25: 20

I'm only seeing one CO ski resort that week, a studio on 12/24. (All of utah only has 3 units.)

(HA only has 1, lesser, resort available, too, as Christmas week is the beginning of peak season there, too.)

So, either my deposits swim or ride rides better than they ski, or CO is the toughest Christmas trade of the three areas.

(One of my deposits is a CO Spring Break ski week.)

Now that I look back, I realize I would not have done the Orlando comparison except that I was answering someone making it. That's how we got going down that slippery slope.

Actually, as the facts point out, it is not a good comparison cuz ski resorts are much harder to get Christmas week than Orlando.

A case where more was less.

I would have agreed if you'd just said that ski resorts are the toughest Christmas/New Year's trade
