To Nancy and rapmarks - thanks for your thoughts. We've been leaning more towards a condo just because we at least wouldn't have to worry about the outside upkeep.

More than 5000 FL properties on this one site.
The property taxes are still high on all of them. I wonder if you can "grieve"/protest/adjust them?

The number changes every day, but just one source, Fannie Mae, has 5724 foreclosures offered today.
Lee County (Ft. Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, Lehigh Acres, etc.) has over 650.
There is even one on Sanibel, on Casa Ybel, but it is under contract.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Now I know why people live in small mobile homes. company coming again, not even people we do things with, so it is going to be hard. I turned my cousin down, a cousin that is not close to me and a terrible mooch. She sent an email to my sister about how she wants to be in florida but can't afford it, and did my sister have her visit with me yet. Outside of the fact that she is all take and no give (not even helping in the kitchen, and can't afford to take us out for a meal) she weighs 400 pounds and can barely move.

My hotel guests just left after 2 weeks of tearing up my living room. Fortunately they only come once a year and this year I convinced them to go to Orlando for a few days.

Originally posted by rapmarksJim, I am trying to envision a property near coconut Point Mall with that size lot. There are a few older homes, not in a community along River Ranch Rd, and off of Sandy Lane, but i can't picture anything else. i wonder what "near" means?

This is a common problem here. I learned a long time ago to say, call me when you get here so we can get together for dinner.

I have never tried to finaggle Florida residency, but if you owned a FL house or condo you could.
Sounds like a good question to google.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

My aunt doesn't drive and only has the state ID which works just like the drivers license. I'd try it. Got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
