No, we haven't, but wish we could bring her sometimes. Hard to hide an eneregetic 80 pound german shephard... She is well behaved and well trained.

I have called front desk, when I saw people on our floor with a little fuzzy dog. Hey, if I have to pay for a doggy sitter. so do they!

Last year someone at my home resort had a big dog. They were walking it around as if they had permission. I didn't complain cause I really don't care as you could probably have figured, but they were acting like they owned the place.

I did once but in a motel on my way home from AZ to CA. I picked up a little stray dog in AZ and she was so sweet so I decided to take her home with me. She never barked once. She was our very first pet but only lasted three months because she was killed right in front of me by a German Shepherd.

One time, we were at the north rim of the Grand Canyon at the only place there was and we were in a little bungalow right next to the edge of the Grand Canyon. Next door had a dog and it barked all night. We felt like reporting it but didn't but I felt like jumping off the cliff in the Grand Canyon. The dog was driving both of us crazy. We like cats because they do not bark!

PS. I remember now that it was in a motel to Florence, Oregon instead of Arizona. From Phoenix, I would leave late in the afternoon so didn't have to leave her in the car too long when I stopped for a meal as it was too hot. It is so long ago now that I didn't remember where exactly the motel was but I do remember that I felt pretty uncomfotable sneaking her in so tried to avoid it at all costs. My memory is failing me but not the memory of this sweet little dog.

The Falls said no pets...it is the rule. Yet, when I was there people did have their dogs with them. Counted four different dogs.

We are so lucky DD and SIL take our dog when we're away and that was decided before we rescued him from the SPCA. We are headed for Meadow Lake in a couple of hours and he got excited as soon as he saw me pack up his food and his bed. He knows that he's going to his other home.

Sorry everyone but I am allergy to cats and I will not exchange into a resort that allows pets unless it is a service animal for the disable.

Its funny Pets do so much more damage to a room...(the allergens are nearly impossible to completely cleaning up(it takes alot more then just vacuuming) plus the damage to floors, carpets, doors, couches, beds)....then smoking ever could...Yet, while people arent' 100% ok with it here....this thread has alot less venom in it then one about smoking in a TS would have

Never have. Our pet is a blue and gold macaw (parrot), and he can be noisy when he squawks wanting attention, so I don't think it would be possible to do a ''covert mission'' anyway. Fortunately, we have relatives who love to birdsit and he enjoys being at their house.

But my resort had a ''covert mission'' blow up with consequences for ownership. We had a couple who had owned a summer week for years, then divorced, and in the divorce decree in another state one got even years and the other odd, even thought it was not an EOY resort. The resort allowed them to function this way but warned it could not be passed to another person as an EOY. After a few years, the husband had a new girlfriend and it was his year to use the week and the girlfriend did a covert mission and got caught. They were told midweek that the dog went, although they could stay without the dog if they wanted. The resort also imposed a pet fine which was several hundred dollars and an extra cleaning bill. They refused to pay. The m/f bill with the past due pet fine and extra cleaning bill went to the wife whose turn it was to pay and use the following year. She, of course, did not want to pay for her ex-husand's expenses, so there was a standoff for a period. Finally the resort manager offered them a solution, which worked, that the wife paid the pet fine and cleaning bill in return for the husband deeded his interest in the timeshare week to her. The resort got its pet fine and cleaning bill paid, and the ex-wife got a good deal on the alternate years of her timeshare week.

And boy can those birds squawk. My mom has one that hates me. It's a little parrot. If it's out of the cage it will bit me on the foot. It sounds much bigger than it is.

Smart resort manager. A solution that all could be happy with.

I have a dog that I dearly love. She is 18 now. She is a chow and lab mix - she looks like a lab so people think that she is friendly - but she isn't. She is a color that is unusual for a lab, but fairly common in chows - fairly red auburn with amber colored eyes. She has a definite chow personality. She was excellent protection for me until she grew so deaf that she can't hear.

She is the only pet that I have ever had. I doubt that I will ever have another one.

She is too big to sneak in. She would shed too much. She doesn't bark so that wouldn't be a problem. She doesn't chew or scratch either. When she needs something, she comes and looks at me. If I don't respond, she puts her paw on my knee to let me know that she needs something. She is very civil in her behavior, just not friendly. And frankly, if someone came into our place, she very well might bite them. So, I would be concerned about people coming in to fix something or do a mid-week tidy.

I think that part of the reason that you did it was partly the medical issues going on with your dog and partly the size and type of dog that she was. Minpins are so small and I don't recall that they shed much either.

This is true. It's hard to leave a dog at the vet in a cage for a week at a time. I really don't like travelling with my pets. I'd much rather leave them home in the care of someone responsible but tiny dogs can be pretty fragile. My cats are fine with someone coming in and just checking food and water but dogs, no way. That's why I don't want a dog right now. I love them but will hold off til a time when I'm not travelling anymore.

This was pre-pet hotels anyway. Now a days it's much better. You can rent them a condo for the week at Petsmart for about $40 a day. That's more than my TS stays sometimes. Good thing I got into TS's in case I get a dog again. All these deals I'm getting on TS's will compensate for the gouging of the pet hotel.
