I have so many animals that I couldn't afford to board them all somewhere. I pay a petsitter to stay in my house.

When I can bring some of my pets, I do. Such as this weekend I will be staying at my campground TS in a cottage that allows pets. I will bring 3 dogs and the rest of my pets will stay home with the petsitter.

I don't think I'd ever bring any to a place where they are not welcome. However, if I had a purse sized dog who was ill like the OP, I would never leave the dog with someone else, so maybe I'd end up doing it.

We brought our dog on vacation with us a couple of times, but to a resort that allowed dogs in certain cabins. Our dog was so small and well behaved that the resort owner even waived the pet fee. However, on the way to the resort we once had to stay one night at a hotel. I had checked beforehand and asked about a pet friendly room, but when we checked in they said none were available. I ended up spending the night in the car in the lot with the dog, while my husband slept comfortably in the room. There was no way I was going to leave the dog in the car all night - alone!

We no longer have a dog, but are housing DD's cat. Luckily, we have neighbors and friends who offer to stop by to feed and water him. Our last trip the cat sitter cost us 2 bottles of wine. The next time we're paying about $10 a day to a family friend who offered to come over.

Little nervous, because I'm a newbie. Only had a pet in a condo room once. For the night.

        It was a python.

About ten years ago, on our trip to Florida, we toured a pet store. We weren't looking for anything in particular (besides possibly chew toys for our dog and cat back home). However, we were intrigued by the pythons.

So, on the day before we left (we had to leave early the next morning), we bought a python.

It was still small...small enough to stay in the small glass jar we had. We secured it tight, so it wouldn't escape. And of course, snakes don't make a sound.

That was our one and only time. We wouldn't even dream of taking a dog or cat to a timeshare resort. In fact, last Christmas, we had a timeshare rental for two nights...Christmas Eve and Christmas Night. My eldest daughter was travelling from Louisiana with her Yorki. She was not going home immediately after Christmas. She had to wake up very early Christmas Eve morning, because the only kennel that had openings, closed at noon. It was about nine hours from her house and two hours to the resort.
