Contact 6: A Contact6 warning for Timeshare resellers - WITI

Another story about fraudulent marketing companies cold-calling with a " buyer's offer" and then asking for thousands upfront from the seller.. These "offers" promise a huge profit from what was originally paid- which should be a dead giveaway!

This story mentions both Corporate Travel Solutions out of Florida, and Resorts Condo Management out of Texas.

If you get one of these calls, please just use some common sense! If you are hoping to sell- either use the services of a licensed real estate brokerage or advertise on your own with a well known marketing company.

Also, remember- if you just participate in a few discussions on this website you can post a free classified ad here!

You can believe whatever you want and that is why the scams work. Yes Virginia, there are legitimate resale companies but they won't tell you what you want to hear.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

        Welcome to the forums!

I often post links to articles with information about the negative side of the business. I don't do this to discourage others, but hopefully to provide information and warnings to others. I personally love the timeshare industry- and believe that it provides my family with far better vacation experiences that we would otherwise be able to access!

Actually, there are many legitimate options available to both sellers and buyers! Unfortunately- good news is considered to be boring so the media rarely covers it any longer!

When I was in high school and college- I worked for a number of local and regional papers and even had a weekly column published in three venues. My editors at the time required at least half of the articles I submitted to be positive in nature, and there was always space reserved in the interior pages layout for human interest "feel good" photos. If I took a photo of a local kid splashing in a puddle or some other happy pic (I once captured a local crossing guard stopping traffic for a mother duck and three little ones) I was virtually guaranteed the photo would always make it to print. Somehow, these attitudes have simply changed! Negative stories are now what sell.. If all you hear about are bad things, it's easy to believe that nothing else is out there.

The great thing about this site is that if you spend time here, you will learn how to make better choices- and educate yourself about both the positive and negative aspects of timeshare ownership. If you are willing to visit routinely, I'd bet that your attitude and beliefs change drastically over time.
