I know nothing about the resort, but when did you buy ?

If you're still within the recission period I would say that you rescind and re-think as I'm willing to bet you can get the same thing resale for a fraction of the cost. If you're outside of the period, the folks here can hopefully give you some advice on how to make the most of what you own.

    Good luck,

    Chris

We bought last Thursday. I'm not sure it's good or not.
We bought into the blue/white and week 2?

Our home resort is the Hill country Silverleaf in Canyon Lake Texas.
      We live 30min from there.

Again - I'm by far one of the LEAST knowledgeable on this site, but if you can get out - get out. Almost nothing purchased direct is worth it.

Other's will chime in, but I believe that you should start reading over the contract IMMEDIATELY as you still may be able to get out. Most places typically give you 10 days to rescind.

I took a quick look on ebay and there was an auction for a Red 2BR/2BA unit at Silverleaf Hill Country Resort that went for $701.56 - guessing you paid a lot more than that.

Silverleaf Timeshare - eBay (item 200448218620 end time Mar-16-10 05:25:41 PDT)

I don't know if there's any ROFR (right of first refusal) on Silverleaf, but get out if you can. I can guarantee that whatever they offered you last week will still be available in a month if you cancel but later decide it's what you want to do.

        Good luck,

        Chris

Would also add that it's great to have something so close, wish we had more options in Chicago ! But again, in almost all cases buying retail from the developer is not a good ideal when resales are going for peanuts.

You can probably find a resale week at Silverleaf Hill Country for under $1000 or even $100. You need to rescind and learn more.

I do not own at Silverleaf, but have exchanged to Hill Country, Galveston, Branson, and Conroe, TX. We choose them because we could take our cocker spaniel when we traveled. The units were nice and the one at Hill Country was much nicer than the Galveston one. Now for the but - do you really want to go to the Hill Country resort the 2nd week of January? A blue/white week will not get you spring break week at very many places. Occasionally, you will be able to, but not regularly.

We currently own a total of 15 timeshare weeks. (2/3 bought on eBay) All of these are places that we want to go to and 5 weeks have the you do not pay maintenance fees unless you go feature.. We only have one non-red week, and that one does not exchange nearly as well as the others. Currently, the 2010 white time week that I deposited with RCI 2 weeks ago has 63,436 unit opportunities for exchange between now and June 2012 and a red week that has to be used by October 2011, has opportunities for 100,955 units. Both of these weeks are at the same resort in Mexico.

Just think about it. I certainly have enjoyed my Silverleaf exchanges as the units are really nice. Only you can decide if you want to rescind, but if you really like these resorts, I would suggest rescinding and looking on eBay for a better week.

I just noticed your post on Silverleaf. Like the others have said if you can still recind do so. Besides the trading power others have mentioned, owning a blue or white week is a disadvantage with Silverleaf because you will not be able to use the bonus time program that Silverleaf offers throughout the year. You will be limited to only a few off season times during blue/white only and with the high maintenance fee using bonus time all year makes sense.

oh good, glad some owners chimed in.

I've exchanged to numerous Silverleaf's and can tell you that there seems to be consistent quality, service, configurations. we do not like lodge units - hate the jet tub in the bedroom thing, really dislike 'chabby chic' distressing of kitchen cabinets. very small kitchen, decent sized living room, always a balcony with table/chairs. Presidential or nothing for us at those resorts. Altho, we have not yet tried a cabin. don't think we want to.

activities abound. onsite amenties, planned stuff, board games, video games, videos to check out to use in your villa, well-maintained grounds.

my favorite of those we've been to is Ozark Mountain. Loved LOVED our Presidential there with awesome views and big front and back screened porches. was so terrific for me and dog to sit out there. I could read, she could watch everything from a high-up perch.

very steep way to water front, but loved having free boats to use. took poochie for her first water experiences with her doggie life jacket.

I'm a dog-owner, that's why we were going; guess that party is over. always picked up after ourselves and found most other owners did, also. but with the great landscaping crews, hard to know how much they had to shovel. grounds are huge, we loved that for our marathon "walkies" daily. sad. we treated everywhere with respect and were grateful for the privilege. our dog is trained, we are quiet.

Near Chicago is Fox River, but in the middle of nowhere (we are always ok with Nowhere). Go there for the immersion in the local culture, canoe trips or to do ntohing but hang at the resort. plenty to do there, even a live band one night over Labor Day weekend. ranger loved our doggie. there were horses that went right by our unit so poochie saw more of them from a respectable distance.

I'd go to Fox River to chill with friends if it were closer than 4 hours, but at 1-2 hours, it's worth a look from Chicago.

thanks, Silverleaf, for the memories. never made it to the TX ones.
